As a sophomore is one of four Duck decathlon returnees in 2008. Also owns potential to compete in various jumps events during regular season. Was one of three decathletes that joined UO as freshmen in 2006-07. As a prep, was a Hawai’i state champion in the pole vault and qualifier in the long jump and triple jump.
2006-07: Outdoors, ranked fourth on team and second among freshmen in decathlon (5,443). Altogether outdoors, competed in five individual events and one decathlon over the course of four contests (100m 1, 110m hurdles 1, long jump 1, triple jump 2). Indoors, competed in only one meet - the Husky Collegiate - in the 60m (7.33) and long jump (20-7 1/4). Personal / Season Bests: Outdoors ? Decathlon ? 5,443 points (PR), Jim Click Shootout, Tucson, Ariz. (3/22-23/07).
Prep: In 2006, won Hawai’i high school state pole vault title as a senior (13-9), and also placed fifth as a junior (13-0). Also competed in state meet as a senior in long jump (16th, 21-3 1/2), and as a junior in the long jump and triple jump. Led state pole vault rankings as a senior in ’06 by a foot with his personal best (14-6). Two-year letterwinner in football at defensive end. High School (Coach): Maui ’06 (Odell Marinia).
