Returns as sophomore in 2007-08, and one of several versatile decathlon prospects that joined the Duck squad as freshmen the previous season. As a prep senior, led the Oregon state season best lists in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Was a four-time 4A state championships qualifier and three-time hurdles finalist.
2006-07: Outdoors, ranked fourth on team in the 110m hurdles (15.58). Altogether, competed in 110m hurdles twice outdoors in a pair of early season home meets. Did not compete indoors. Personal / Season Bests: Outdoors ? 110m Hurdles ? 15.58 (w:1.9), Oregon Preview, Eugene, Ore. (3/17/07).
Prep: Was an Oregon 4A state placer as a senior in the 110m hurdles (eighth, 18.04 (injury), third-prelims, 15.23, w:-0.3) and had to withdraw from 300m hurdles because of an injury after he led the prelims (39.44). Led the state rankings in 2006 as a senior in the 110m hurdles (14.46a) and 300m hurdles (38.54c), and also ranked top-four on the state season best list in the 100m (third-tie, 10.84). As a junior was a state placer in the 110m hurdles (fifth, 15.22, w:-0.3; 15.09-p, w:-1.3 (season best)) and 300m hurdles (sixth, 40.31), and owned one of state’s best regular season marks in the 110m hurdles (15.08a). Also competed in state meet as a sophomore (300m hurdles, 14th-prelims, 41.98). Named Athlete of the Meet in the 2006 Centennial Invite and the Les Schwab Athlete of the Month. Prep bests follow: 100m (10.6, 2006), 110m Hurdles (14.47, 2006), 300m Hurdles (38.64, 2006). Four-year letterwinner in track and one-year letterwinner in soccer as a forward. Helped soccer team to district championship and scored five goals in his only season of high school play. Off the track, he won the NCTE National Writing Contest. High School: Centennial ?06.
Personal: History major. His father John was a Portland State decathlete and his mom Deborah was an 800m runner for UC Irvine.
