Veteran of the hammer corps was one of four Ducks to regionally qualify in the event. Was also a Pac-10 scorer in the hammer. Cleared 200 feet for the first time at the Pac-10 Championships. As a prep was an Oregon 4A state qualifier as a senior in the shot put.
2008-09: Outdoors - NCAA Regional Qualifier in the hammer. Consistent performer in the hammer was third in the event at the Oregon Preview, Pepsi Team Invitational, Oregon-UCLA dual meet and the Oregon Twilight. Season best throw of 197-4/60.16m came at the Oregon Twilight. Was also a Pac-10 and NCAA West Regional competitor. Hit a PR in the discus with a toss of 148-2/45.17m in the UCLA dual meet. Season Bests: Outdoors - Discus - 148-2/45.17m (PR), UCLA Dual, Eugene, Ore. (4/18/09); Hammer - 197-4/60.16m, Oregon Twilight, Eugene, Ore. (5/9/09).
2007-08: A Pac-10 scorer and NCAA West Regional qualifier in the hammer. Threw the hammer in seven meets. Finished seventh at the Pac-10 Championships with a career-best of 200-11, the first time he had gone over 200 feet, to help Oregon win its fourth Pac-10 title in the past six seasons. Threw 196-3 at the NCAA West Regional to finish 12th. Opened season with a PR at the time of 198-10 to finish third at the Oregon Preview. Also top four finishes at the Sacramento State Invitational (196-9), the Pepsi Team Invite (194-10), the Oregon-UCLA Dual (194-0) and the Oregon Twilight (194-6). Indoors, placed third in the weight throw at the MPSF Championships (55-0.75). USTFCCCA All-Academic first team. Pac-10 All-Academic second team. Season Bests: Outdoors - Hammer - 200-11 (PR), Pac-10 Championships, Tempe, Ariz. (5/17/08); Discus - 145-8, Oregon-UCLA Dual, Eugene, Ore. (4/19/08). Indoors - Weight Throw - 55-0.75 (PR), MPSF Championships (3/1/08).
2006-07: NCAA West Region qualifier in the hammer. Upped his hammer season best in his West Regional debut and ranked second for the team behind NCAA qualifier Brian Richotte and finished 16 places higher than his pre-meet seeding. Overall in his four hammer contests, rewrote his personal best in three of them. Contributed to the Ducks’ victory in the Pepsi Team Invitational by throwing the shot put and discus and was team’s top placer in the latter event. Indoors, competed in the weight throw for the first time and ranked third on the team behind a pair of NCAA veterans. Pac-10 All-Academic Track and Field Second Team honoree. Season Bests: Outdoors - Hammer - 186-11, West Regional, Eugene, Ore. (5/25/07); Shot Put - 44-4.75 (PR), Pepsi Team Invitational, Eugene, Ore. (4/7/07); Discus - 144-9, Pepsi Team Invitational, Eugene, Ore. (4/7/07). Indoors - Weight Throw - 51-8.25, Husker Invitational, Lincoln, Neb. (2/2/07).
2005-06: USA Junior Championships qualifier in the hammer. During the collegiate season, topped 170 feet in his regular season finale, the Oregon Twilight (third, 177-5). Season Bests: Outdoors - Hammer - 177-5, Oregon Twilight, Eugene, Ore. (5/5/06).
Prep: Owned shot put and discus bests of 55-4 and 167-5. National Honor Society member.
Personal: Double major in human physiology and psychology.
