WHAT IS O HEROES?

The University of Oregon’s student-athletes are viewed as role models in the community. We at the University of Oregon Athletic Department are very fortunate to have these young individuals not only participating in our 18 varsity teams but also volunteering their time to the community. The goal for O Heroes is to create a collective organization that can positively impact Oregon, most specifically the Eugene/Springfield community.

“My daughters were paired with Hannah Taylor. They were excited/nervous to meet a new person, but within two minutes of talking to Hannah, they completely relaxed and felt comfortable. She is such a nice person and gave them the warm comfort and distraction, I think they needed. At the end of our first conversation my daughter yelled “I just met a soccer star!!!” But, after that she never said it again because Hannah quickly became a friend, an amazing friend they could connect with. They were able to share their life at home, when everything else had become distant. She is incredibly patient and caring. Through this experience we feel truly Thankful!”

“I wanted to share how much we have enjoyed this program. Lilli Rask has been such a blessing during this hard time. She is so kind and engaged with my son. He really enjoys speaking with her every week. She has encouraged him to face his fears, talked with him about so many things and supported him during his quarantine struggles. He asks every Tuesday if it’s 5:00 yet. She is so respectful and has accommodated our schedules. We cannot wait to see her take the field at U of O. Meeting her has been such a positive influence on our family and she is such an upstanding student athlete. We are forever thankful to her and her dedication to my son.”
