Returns for sixth and final season of eligibility in 2008 after he was injured in '07. Will aim for Olympic Trials invitation in the hammer with a personal best (211-0) a foot better than the 'B' qualifying standard (210-0). Was a regional qualifier in three throwing events in his first Duck season in '06, and could do so again in '08 if he meets the following qualifying marks (shot put 55-1 1/2, discus 169-7, hammer 186-4). Ranks ninth all-time for UO in the hammer with his Duck best of 210-8 from '06, and needs a throw of 221-11 or better to move into the school’s all-time top five. Could also take aim at UO’s top-10 lists in the shot put and discus, and needs marks of 61-3 1/2 and 188-6, respectively. Indoors, broke school shot put record in '06 by 1 foot, 1 1/4 inches with his indoor best (58-8 3/4), and stands fifth all-time for UO in weight throw (60-3 3/4). Before he joined the Ducks, he competed as a redshirt sophomore for Moorpark College (Los Angeles) in 2005, missed the 2004 season because of an injury, and competed as a true freshman at Utah State in 2003. Owns pre-UO bests of 211-0 in the hammer, 184-6 in the discus and 57-0 in the shot put.
2005-06: NCAA Qualifier (Hammer). In first campaign for Ducks, made NCAA debut in hammer (23rd, 199-1) and was just shy of his pre-meet seeding (20th). Two weeks before was one of UO’s busiest performers in the West Regional and competed in the hammer (ninth, 195-4), discus (13th, 180-1) and shot put (19th, 52-9 1/4). Also competed in all three events in the Pac-10 Championships and finished top 10 in the hammer (sixth, 192-1) and shot put (ninth, 56-4 1/2). Topped 200 feet in hammer twice in second half of season, and ended season with two other performances past the 195 foot line. Ended season ranked fourth in the Pac-10, seventh in the region, 20th among collegians and 38th in U.S. Posted discus marks of 180 feet or better in four meets and topped 177 feet in two others. Threw shot put in only four meets outdoors and topped 55 feet in two of them. Altogether, claimed five wins outdoors in the hammer (2) and discus (3). Indoors, led team season best list in the weight throw (60-3 3/4) and shot put (58-8 3/4). Posted top-five finishes in the Mountain Pacific Championships at end of February in the weight throw (fourth, 58-8 1/2) and shot put (fifth, 58-8 3/4). Altogether, competed in 21 events outdoors (shot put 4, discus 9, hammer 8), and in seven events indoors (shot put 4, weight throw 3). Personal/Season Bests: Outdoors ? Before Oregon: In the U.S. rankings at the end of the 2005 season, he ranked 33rd in the hammer (211-0) and 38th in the discus (184-6). Competed for Moorpark College (L.A.) in 2005 after he redshirted the 2004 season. Won hammer, shot put and discus titles in the 2005 California Community College Championships. Earlier in the year, won the hammer (204-0) and discus (182-5) in the Cal State Fullerton Invitational in March ? improvements of nearly 50 and 25 feet, respectively from his preseason bests. As a freshman at Utah State in 2003 he owned a discus best of 159-6 and took eighth in the Big West Championships discus. Redshirted 2004 season after he underwent shoulder surgery.
Prep: As a prep senior in Fort Collins, he took fifth in the state discus. Personal: Political Science major. His sister is a redshirt freshman thrower for the University of Washington.
