Joins UO wrestling team in 2007-08 after he was one of track and field team's most promising runners the last two seasons. As a prep, was a three-time state cross country veteran and also qualified in track as a senior in the 1,500m and in wrestling (135 pounds).
2006-07 (Track & Field): Continued to lower career bests in the 1,500m outdoors (3:49.98) and mile indoors (4:06.15). Ranked fifth on team in the mile and was less than three seconds from the NCAA provisional standard (4:04.00). Made collegiate debut in 3,000m to open outdoor season in the Oregon Preview (eighth, 8:29.37). Altogether, competed in eight track contests outdoors and indoors (Outdoors ? 1,500m 3; Mile 1; 3,000m 1; Indoors ? Mile 3). In cross country, notched his first collegiate career victory, albeit as an unattached entry in a Bay Area race (4.3 miles, 22:18). Altogether, competed in four contests and scored once in the Pier Park Preview (eighth, 20:09). Also raced the Bill Dellinger Invitational (61st, 24:35) and Mike Hodges Invitational (11th, 19:37). 2005-06: Pac-10 Track & Field Qualifier (1,500m/5,000m). Ended outdoor track and field campaign with Pac-10 Championships debut in 1,500m (17th, 3:52.71-p). The week before, he ran a 1.90-second season and personal best in the Oregon Twilight (eighth, 3:50.69). Capped indoor campaign with top-10 effort in Mountain Pacific Championships mile (10th, 4:10.94). Altogether indoors, raced mile in three meets and ran 4:10 or faster in two of them. In fall, raced two cross country races for Oregon varsity unit. Was UO’s 10th finisher in Pac-10 Cross Country Championships (72nd, 27:08). Raced season opener, the Pier Park Invitational, and stood ninth on squad (10th, 21:15). Personal/Season Bests: Outdoors ? 800 meters ? 1:53.61 (PR), Western Oregon Twilight, Monmouth, Ore. Prep: Competed in 4A state cross country finale as a senior in 2004 (21st, 16:22), junior (35th, 16:20) and sophomore (25th, 16:18). Top finisher for Lincoln High School in all three trips to the state harrier finale as team placed sixth in 2004, 13th in '03 and eighth in '02. On the track, placed fifth in state debut in the 1,500 in 2005 (fifth, then-PR 3:57.86). That state meet personal best ranked him sixth overall in the state rankings, and just behind Duck teammate Stephen Oliver (fifth, 3:57.44a). Owned 5K cross country best of 15:30. Lettered four years in wrestling, three years in cross country and one year in track. High School (Coaches): Lincoln '05 (David Bailey, Charlotte Richardson, Bret Born).
