One of two returning Pac-10 champions for Ducks, and an NCAA qualifier in the 400 hurdles and 4x400. Leads Duck returnees in the 400 hurdles and also ranks third on squad in the 400 (48.23-indoors) based on 2003 season bests. Ranks second among Pac-10 returnees in 400 hurdles based on 2003 season bests with last year’s top three Pac-10 finishers graduated. Ranks seventh all-time for Ducks in 400 hurdles (50.73) with his sophomore season best, and is just over a second away from the school record (49.64).
2002-03: NCAA Qualifier (400 Hurdles). In NCAA debut, ran the 400 hurdles (fourth-heat/24th overall, 52.38) after entering meet seeded 25th, then returned to anchor 4x400 relay to a two-second season best in the event prelims (11th overall, fourth-heat, 3:06.73) after entering meet seeded 18th. Earned NCAA invite in West Regional Champs (fifth, 50.79; 51.47-prelims) with second-fastest time of career after entering regional meet seeded 27th. Also broke 52.00 in Oregon Invite (first-twilight section, 51.18), Pomona-Pitzer Invitational (second, 51.63) and Pepsi Team Invite (second, 51.65). Overall, competed in 400 hurdles in 11 races, with five sub-52.00. Indoors, ranked third on team in the 400 with his best from the www.Bodybuilding.com Invitational (eighth, 48.23).
2000-01: Pac-10 Qualifier. Stood as third-fastest freshman in Pac-10 and fourth on team in 400 hurdles with season best from Texas Invite (13th, 52.83). Also posted solid efforts in Oregon Twilight (third, 53.74) and Oregon Invitational (first, 54.34). Ended year with appearance in U.S. Junior Championships (fourth, 53.07). Ran 400 once, finishing fourth in Washington Dual (49.74). Indoors, ran 400 twice, clocking season best of 49.85 in prelims of Mountain Pacific Championships.
Prep: As senior, finished third in state 4A 110 hurdles (14.92 / 14.83-prelims), 13th in high jump (6-1), anchored fifth-place 4x400 relay (3:25.61) and led qualifying efforts in 300 hurdles (38.29) before a DNF in final. As junior finished third in 4A state 300 hurdles (39.26) and sixth in 110 hurdles (15.16). Was a first-team metro league selection in 110 and 300 hurdles as a senior and junior. Lettered in football at cornerback. High School (Coach): Beaverton '00 (Jim Archer).
