Returns for second and final season of outdoor eligibility for Ducks after she competed at Wisconsin for 2 1/2 seasons. Moved up to second all-time for Ducks in shot put in 2004 (52-8 3/4) - 4 3/4 inches behind school record holder Quenna Beasley (1983) - with her West Regional personal best that also netted her first NCAA invite. Indoors, was also an NCAA provisional qualifier in the shot put (51-3 1/2, 15.63m). Also led the Ducks in the discus in 2004, and her personal best (164-1) was two feet, eight inches from UO’s #10 best performer all-time. Based on 2004 season bests, returns ranked second in the shot put in the Pac-10, fourth in the region and 15th nationally, and fourth in the discus in the Pac-10 ninth regionally and 28th nationally. Ranked 31st in the U.S. in 2004 in the shot put (52-8 3/4) with her 1 foot, 3 1/4 inch personal best improvement and season best.
2003-2004: NCAA Qualifier (Shot Put). Oregon's top shot put and discus thrower, she extended her outdoor campaign into June with her NCAA shot put debut (24th, 49-5), after she qualified with a top-five finish and personal best performance in the West Regional Championships (fourth, 52-8 3/4) in late May. Set previous personal best just two weeks before in the Pac-10 Championships (fourth, 52-5 1/2). Also threw the discus during the championship run, and scored in the Pac-10 meet (fifth, 162-2) with her second-longest heave of the season, and also competed in the regional finale (28th, 137-2). Overall, met regional qualifying mark (46-8 3/4) in every shot put competition she entered, threw over 50 feet in four of nine appearances - including three of the last four meets of the season. In the discus, also topped 160 feet in three of seven discus competitions, highlighted by a win in the Oregon Invitational (164-1) that fell less than two feet short of her personal best from 2002 for Wisconsin (165-7). Led the squad in both the shot and discus. At end of season ranked sixth in shot put in Pac-10 and region and 23rd nationally, and ranked seventh in discus in Pac-10, 14th in region and 45th nationally. Indoors, she competed four times in the shot put, provisionally qualified for the NCAA finale, topped 50-feet twice, and led the squad with her season best from the Mountain Pacific Championships (third, 51-3 1/2).
Before Oregon: Competed three seasons for the University of Wisconsin, and held the school indoor and outdoor shot put record. Owns two years of outdoor eligibility and one year of indoor eligibility. The Badger transfer was a five-time Big Ten Championships scorer in 2003 (indoors - shot put, fifth, 51-2 3/4), 2002 (outdoors - shot put, fourth, 51-3 3/4; discus, fifth, 161-10; indoors - shot put, seventh, 48-0 3/4) and 2001 (indoors - shot put, seventh, 48-3 1/4 (14.71m)). Also competed in three other conference events as a frosh in 2001 (indoors - weight throw, 21st, 45-9 3/4 (13.96m), outdoors - shot put, 14th, 43-1 1/2 (13.14m); discus, 15th, 142-1 (43.30m)). In 2003, she ranked 31st nationally in the indoor shot put (51-13) and redshirted outdoors. Led Badgers indoors in 2003 in shot put (51-3) and ranked second in eight throw (49-8 1/2); and in 2002 in shot put indoors (49-8 1/2) and outdoors (51-5 1/2) and ranked second in the discus (165-7) and weight throw (50-3 1/4).
Prep: A five-time state champion in the discus (3) and shot put (2) and owned state records in each. Was also a three-time divisional state shot put champion, four-time divisional discus victor, and school javelin record holder. Also holds divisional and school records in both events. Honored as state Gatorade Athlete of the Year and was a four-year letterwinner in track. Also a three-time honoree as a center in basketball.
