Has run lead-off on Ducks' record-setting 4x400 unit the past three seasons, which has lowered the school from 3:06.3 to 3:00.81, and made four NCAA appearances, including two top-five finishes in the NCAA final. As a senior in 2006, will vie for Pac-10 and West Regional points in the 400, and is versatile enough to step down to 200. Ranks third among Duck returnees in 400 (46.90) and 200 (21.27) based on personal bests. His Duck best (46.90) Is only .17 seconds from UO’s all-time top-10 list in the 400 (10th is 46.66). Needs to only run 47.26 in 400 outdoors to earn return trip to West Regional in 2006.
2004-05: All-American (4x400 Relay). Ran lead-off leg on 4x400 in NCAA outdoor prelims (3:04.10) - UO’s seventh-fastest time ever. Also opened on 4x400 relay in Pac-10 Championships (second, then-school record 3:03.27) and NCAA West Regional (second, 3:07.69). Altogether in 4x400 relays, ran lead-off on four relays that rank top-eight all-time in outdoor school history. Individually, won 400 in regular season finale in Oregon Twilight (48.67). On team’s outdoor season best list, ranked fourth in 400 (48.67) and fifth in 200 (22.55), and also stood 21st in the Pac-10 in the 400 on its combined indoor-outdoor season best after the outdoor conference championship. Indoors, led off UO’s first indoor All-America 4x400 relay (fifth, 3:05.26), after squad ranked second nationally with its indoor school record from the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier (first, 3:04.17). On team's indoor season best list, ranked third in 400 (PR 47.50) and fourth in 200 (22.21). Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoors ? 200 ? 22.55 (w:-0.1), Pepsi Team Invitational, Eugene, Ore. 2003-2004: All-American (4x400). Was a key component on the 4x400 relay team that capped an impressive campaign with an NCAA scoring effort (fifth, 3:03.88) - UO's first points in the event since 1972 and only fourth ever top-eight placing. Helped quartet qualify for the NCAA finale with runner-up finish in the West Regional Championships (second, 3:03.73), which was preceded by a school-record performance in the Pac-10 finale (second, 3:03.49). Overall, the 4x400 squad ran sub-3:04 four times in the championship run. Capped individual season in West Regional, and fell one spot short of the 400 final with a personal best effort in the preliminary round (10th-overall, 46.90). Also competed in Pac-10 finale in the 200 (fourth-heat, 10-overall prelims, 21.59). Altogether outdoors, ran three 200-meter races, and five quarter-mile efforts. Opened the season with a then-personal best and win in the Oregon Preview (46.94), and followed with two more wins in the Pepsi Invite (47.04) and the Mt. SAC Relays (University section, 47.08), then finished behind two teammates in Oregon Twilight (third, 47.66) in Eugene in early May. Ran a personal best in his 200 season debut in the Pepsi Invite (second, 21.27 w:1.9) to rank second on team in '04 - only .10 seconds behind Kedar Inico (21.17). Ended outdoor slate ranked 12th in Pac-10, 14th in region and 54th in NCAA in the 400 based on season bests. Indoors, ran on UO's 4x400 relay in NCAA Championships (11th, 4:18.28) that was slowed by a mid-race injury to anchor Matt Scherer. A month before, ran opening leg on a pair of school indoor 4x400 relays in consecutive weekends in early February - the United Heritage Invitational (fourth, 3:09.13, 47.4 split) and Iowa State Classic (third, 3:06.54, 46.6 split). Overall, ranked second indoors on the squad in the 200 and 400, with season bests from the Bobybuilding.com Invitational (fifth, 21.88) and a Pac-10 outdoor qualifier in the 400 in the Florida Fast Times Qualifier (fifth, 47.81). 2002-03: NCAA & Pac-10 Qualifier (400). In NCAA Championships, was one of three Duck freshmen that helped Duck 4x400 improve from a pre-meet 25th-place seeding to miss final by three spots and 1.28 seconds (11th-prelims, 3:06.73). Qualified for collegiate finale with then-season best from the West Region Championships slower heat (second overall, 3:08.05) - and was .83 seconds behind the winner out of the faster heat. The 4x400 also won the slow heat in the Pac-10 finale (sixth overall, 3:09.42), and was only 1.79 seconds from second place and 2.98 seconds behind the winner. Individually, ran then-collegiate 400 best in Pac-10 prelims (fourth-heat, 47.49), and missed final by one position and .11 seconds. Ended season with invite to U.S. Junior Championships and lowered his Duck best by .01 seconds (eighth, 47.48; 48.63-prelims). Missed West Regional qualifying standard (47.45) by only .04 seconds with his Pac-10 season best. Altogether outdoors, competed in seven races with all six of his 400 efforts sub-48.00. Ran lone outdoor 200 in Oregon Preview (second, 22.14). Indoors, ran four 400 races and led squad with his season best from the Pac-10 Invite in Seattle (fourth, 47.98). Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoor - 200 - 22.14, Oregon Preview, Eugene (3/22/03). 400 - 47.48, USA Junior Championships, Stanford, Calif. (6/22/03). Indoor - 400 - 47.98 (PR), Pac-10 Invite, Seattle (3/1/03).
Prep: Owned prep bests of 21.4 and 47.09 in 200 and 400, from his 2001 junior season. In 2002 Colorado state finale, finished second in 400 as senior (48.12), and helped 4x400 quartet to title. Several weeks later, placed in 400 in Golden West Invite (seventh, 48.28). Missed state meet as junior after pulling hamstring in 4x200 relay prelims. Sophomore season state champion in 400 (47.54). Also lettered as a senior in cross country, and in football two seasons as a running back and racked up 1,500 rushing yards. High School (Coach): Westminster ?02 (Rich Quitman).
