Before Oregon: Competed for Glendale Community College outdoors in 2003 and ?04, and was an area All-American in the javelin (fifth overall) and discus as a freshman in ?03. Was an all-conference pick in the javelin and league runner-up as a sophomore. Owned sophomore javelin season best of 189-8. Did not attend college for 2002 outdoor season.
Prep: Lettered two seasons in track as a shot put and discus specialist, and owned bests of 43-8 and 138-11. Qualified for state discus (second) and shot put as a senior in 2001. Also lettered two seasons at linebacker in football and one season in wrestling at 171 and 189 weight classes. High School (Coach): Chino Valley ?01 (Scholl).
