Team’s top steeplechase returnee and a three-time league competitor. Ranks fourth all-time for UO in the event and her personal best from her ASU sophomore season (10:51.81) would rank second-fastest at UO. NCAA harrier veteran from 2002 for the 23rd-place Sun Devils (and sixth on the squad that race).
Fall 2005: Raced only once for Ducks in cross country and stood 10th on team in Pac-10 Championships (77th, 24:32).
2004-05: Pac-10 Competitor (Steeplechase). Ran four steeplechase races outdoors in debut season for Ducks. Opened with season best in Oregon Invitational (11:09.20). Made third Pac-10 steeple appearance (14th, 11:28.54). Personal/ Season Bests: Outdoors ? Steeplechase ? 11:09.20, Oregon Invitational (4/23/05). Indoors ? 3,000 ? 10:13.58, Washington Invitational (1/29/05). In cross country, steadily built training back up in summer and fall after she missed much of previous years because of injuries. Improved as harrier season wore on and ran in top seven in all five meets, and top four in the final four. Ranked second on squad in Pac-10 Champs (37th, 22:17), third on team in Pre-NCAA Invite (164th, 22:53) and West Regional (65th, 22:15), fifth in Roy Griak Invite (174th, 23:58) and sixth in Pier Park Preview (13th, 5K-19:56).
2003-2004: Redshirted cross country and track and field seasons because of inter-conference transfer rules. Saw limited training time in fall, winter and spring as she returned from injuries from end of 2003 track campaign. Competed unattached once outdoors in Pepsi Invite mini-meet in April, and won the 3,000 meters (10:25.3).
Before Oregon: Competed for Arizona State two seasons. On the oval in 2003, ran steeple in NCAA West Regional (11th-heat/28th overall, 11:12.59), and scored in Pac-10 Championships (eighth, 10:59.66). Ran personal bests outdoors in 1,500 (4:43.49), and steeplechase (10:51.81) from the Oregon Invitational and UA-NAU double dual, respectively. Indoors, led squad in 800 (2:20.32a) and ranked second in mile (4:57.16) at end of campaign with season bests from UA-NAU double dual and Pac-10 Invitational, respectively. In cross country in 2002, ran six races and scored twice. Made debut in NCAA Championships (174th, 22:10). Highest finish as a freshman came in the adidas Invitational (14th). Also ran in Pac-10 Championships (39th), West Regional (58th) and Roy Griak Invitational (64th). In track outdoors in 2002 as a true freshman, took 10th in the Pac-10 steeplechase (11:15.46) after running a then-best earlier in the year (10:59.85). That season also clocked her 1,500 personal best in the Sun Angel Classic (14th, 4:37.86), and slightly faster than her effort in the Oregon Invite day session 1,500 (4:40.18) in Eugene. Indoors in 2002, she compete in four 800 races with a season best in the MPSF Championships prelims (2:19.09). Redshirted the 2001 cross country season.
Prep: State 3A champion as a junior in 1999, runner-up as a freshman ('97) and sophomore (?98), and fifth as a senior (2000). Four-time district cross country champion and four-time first-team all-district honoree. On the oval, won three consecutive state titles in the 3,000 (1999-01). Also won the state 1,500 as a junior ('00), and was runner-up as a sophomore ('99) and senior ('01). Four-time district champion in the 1,500 and 3,000, and four-year letterwinner in track and cross country. The Dalles HS and Tri-Valley Scholar Athlete of the Year. High School (Coach): The Dalles '01 (Greg Gustafson).
Personal: Exercise Physiology major. Her stepfather Greg Gustafson coached her high school cross country and track teams. Her father Tim Fitz played minor league baseball.
