Returns as senior in 2007-08 as key member of Oregon's sprint corps and one of top quarter-milers in school history. The returning All-American made NCAA appearances in the 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m as a junior in '07 - his first season for the Ducks. Ranks fifth all-time for UO outdoors in the 400m (46.18) with his personal best from the NCAA semifinal - a mark that also ranked him 50th in the U.S. in '07. Indoors in '08, enters season tied for fifth all-time for UO in 200m with fellow senior Phil Alexander (21.46), and is only a half-second away from UO's all-time indoor 400m list (fifth is 47.50). In his Pac-10 Championships debut, competed in seven races to help Ducks win their third Pac-10 team crown since '03 and contributed a pair of top-six finishes in the 200m and 400m (sixth / third) and top-four relay finishes (third / fourth). In heart of postseason, added top-three finishes in West Regional in 400m (second), 4x100m (third) and 4x400m (third). Transferred to Ducks for 2006-07 season from nearby Lane Community College and competed prior for Barton Community College one season. As a prep, was a Louisiana state champion in the 400m.
2006-07: All-American (400m). Led Ducks in the 400m outdoors with his personal best from the NCAA semifinal (ninth, 46.18) after he also ranked ninth in the prelims (46.68). Opened the postseason with a third-place Pac-10 finish (46.62) and runner-up Regional effort (46.31) and his four fastest career times came in his NCAA races (#1, #3) and the Pac-10 and West Regional finals (#4, #2). In relay action, helped 4x100m relay to third-place finishes in the Pac-10 and West Regional (40.63 / 40.26) and 14th-place effort in the NCAA finale (40.77) - four positions better than its pre-meet seeding. Added to busy schedule in NCAA finale in Sacramento with leg on 4x400m (14th-prelims, 3:07.24) after third- and fourth-place finishes in the West Regional (3:08.79) and Pac-10 Championships (3:09.93). Also ranked second for Ducks outdoors in the 200m (21.23) and was a Pac-10 scorer (sixth, 21.41). Indoors, led squad in 200m (21.46) and ranked third in the 400m (48.05) and 60m (6.94), while a would-be 400m personal best was negated by a lane violation disqualification. In indoor relay action, ran on 4x400m that placed second in the Mountain Pacific Championships (3:09.92) and ran three NCAA provisional qualifying efforts (3:09.91, 3:09.92, 3:10.03). Altogether competed in 16 individual events outdoors (200m 7, 400m 9) and five races indoors (60m 1, 200m 1, 400m 3). Before Oregon: Competed in 2004 national junior championships indoors for Barton Community College as a freshman and placed top-six in the 400m (second, 48.68) and 4x400m relay (sixth, 3:17.92). Also competed outdoors in 2004 and ran 200m personal best (20.8). Attended Butler Community College for one term in fall 2004, then transferred to Lane Community College in Eugene in fall of 2005. Off limited practice, owned the following 2006 outdoor season bests in the 100m (10.66), 200m (21.96) and 400m (48.51). In 2006 NWAACC Championships, scored in the 100m (second, 10.83), 200m (first, 21.96), 4x100m (sixth, 59.00) and 4x400m (first, 3:15.78).
Prep: Won 2002 Louisiana 5A state titles in the 400m as a senior (46.9), as a junior in the 400m (48.35), and also helped 4x400m relay win state championship. Was also a district champion in the 100m, 200m and 400m. Capped high school career as a four-year letterwinner in track, football (cornerback/wide receiver/strong safety), and soccer (forward), and was named team MVP in all three sports.
