CAREER SUMMARY
A three-year reliever at Oregon, Scott McGough, entered his junior campaign ranked the 47th 2011 College Prospect by Baseball America, and was also named to 2011 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Watch List after earning 2010 Pac-10 honorable mention accolades and playing on the 2010 Collegiate National Team.
In three years on the mound for Oregon, McGough compiled a career ERA of 3.33 in 135 and 1/3 innings tossed. His nine career saves rank second all time, while his 74 appearances on the mound are more than any other Duck in the history of the program.
McGough was Oregon’s 31st draft selection in the history of the program and the 10th pick since UO baseball returned to the diamond in 2009. McGough was also the eighth Oregon pitcher to be selected since 2009.

AS A JUNIOR • 2011
Finished the year with a 3.59 ERA on the hill, a 3-6 record and five saves…tossed 57 and 2/3 innings, and struck out 62, holding opposing batters to a .248 clip…his 31 appearances on the mound set a new UO single-season record…of 37 runners he inherited in 31 relief appearances, allowed just 10 to score…during the final week of Oregon’s 2011 season, made two appearances and did not allow a run in 9 and 1/3 innings of action…in a season-high five and 2/3 innings on the hill, earned the win in relief and shut out Portland on three hits while dealing a career-best eight strikeouts as the Ducks won, 7-2, and claimed the season series over the Pilots (05/24)…then clinched the Civil War Series victory for Oregon as he recorded his fifth save of the year by shutting out then No. 6 Oregon State and holding the Beavers without a hit for the final three and 2/3 innings as UO prevailed 4-1 (05/28)…picked up his first save of the year tossing one inning of shutout baseball as the Ducks defeated Saint Mary’s 3-0 (02/26)…with the bases loaded and needing just one out, coaxed a fly ball for the final out as the Ducks opened the series with a 6-3 victory at San Diego (03/19)…picked up his third save of the season, pitching three shutout innings and facing just one batter over the minimum, allowing one hit and fanning five as Oregon defeated San Francisco, 4-0 (04/18)…pitched the final 3 and 1/3 innings, holding then No. 23 Arizona to two hits while striking out four as the Ducks clinched the series with a 7-3 victory over the Wildcats (04/23)…was credited with the win after tossing 1 and 2/3 shutout innings of relief on three hits and one walk while fanning two as Oregon clinched the series with a 6-5 win over Stanford (05/15).

chosen for the 2010 Collegiate National Team…was 1-1 on the mound with a
0.82 ERA in five relief appearances and a total of 11 innings of
work…pitched in one combined shutout and struck out 13…was ranked at No.
16 by Baseball America’s “Team USA Top 20 Prospects” list.
AS A SOPHOMORE • 2010
Emerged
as a go-to reliever for Oregon out of the bullpen in both the set-up
and closer roles…was named Pac-10 Honorable Mention…finished the season
with a 2.45 ERA, 5-2 record and four saves in a staff-high 25
appearances and 58 and 2/3 innings on the mound…totaled 56 strikeouts
while issuing just 14 walks… also appeared at shortstop in three games
vs. East Tennessee State, batting .375 with a run scored, double, RBI
and stolen base…season highlights include holding No. 4 Cal State
Fullerton scoreless for three and 1/3 innings, and limiting the Titans
to three hits while dealing four strikeouts to earn his first save of
the season in a 7-3 victory…against CSF, recorded the final out of the
sixth inning before enduring a one-hour rain delay and coming back to
pitch the final three (2/19)…pitched 2 and 1/3 innings of scoreless
baseball in relief to earn the win in a 12-3 victory at Loyola Marymount
(2/20)… improved to 2-0 after throwing six strong innings, allowing one
run on five hits and two walks, while striking out a career-best seven
in a 5-2 victory at Fresno State (3/6)…pitched 4 and 1/3 innings of
relief and picked up the win in a 12-7 victory over Nevada after
allowing two runs on four hits (3/20)…picked up the save in Oregon’s 9-8
victory at Arizona, pitching the final inning and retiring the side in
order after sandwiching a groundout in between two strikeouts
(3/28)…held then No. 22 Stanford scoreless for 3 and 1/3 innings to earn
his third save of the year in a 5-2 victory over the Cardinal (4/9)…was
credited with the win after shutting out No. 1 UCLA for four and 1/3
innings protecting a slim-one run lead, allowing just three hits while
fanning four in the Ducks 5-4 upset victory (4/16)...pitched the final 1
and 1/3 innings and retired the side in the ninth to earn his fourth
save of the season in Oregon’s 4-2 win at Portland (5/18)…pitched two
shutout innings allowing just one hit and was credited with the win as
UO opened the NCAA Regional with a 5-2 victory over No. 17 UConn (6/4).
SUMMER 2009
A
top reliever for the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods
League...finished the summer as the sixth-ranked prospect in the league
according to PerfectGame Crosschecker…helped lead the Honkers to the
2009 NWL title appearing in all three championship series games…in game
one pitched the final two innings in Rochester’s 7-2 win, dealing three
strikeouts…ended his summer season with a 5-4 record and 2.54 ERA…made
29 relief appearances pitching a total of 46 innings…walked just 17
batters while striking out 37.
AS A FRESHMAN • 2009
Mainly
used as a reliever during his rookie season, but also saw time in the
infield...made 18 appearances on the mound pitching a total of 19
innings with a 5.21 ERA and 1-0 record...earned his first win during a
non-conference 6-4 victory over Washington (3/21) after notching the
final out of the eighth...in his longest relief effort of the season,
pitched the final three innings of a 6-2 loss to UCLA (5/3)...during
that outing held the Bruins to one unearned run on just one hit...in the
field appeared in seven games making five starts at shortstop...hit
.167 (3-for-18) with one run scored.
