Team’s top returnee in the triple jump for the second straight outdoor season, and ranks fifth all-time for the Ducks with her 2004 personal best (40-8 3/4). Looks to continue her ascent of UO’s all-time charts and is 7 1/2 inches away from third (41-4 1/4) and nine inches from second-ranked and former teammate Amanda Brown (41-5 3/4). Improved wind-legal best by 1 foot 6 3/4 inches as a junior, and joined UO top 10 for first time in career. Among collegiate returnees, ranks fourth in Pac-10, 10th in region and 48th nationally based on 2004 season bests.
2003-2004: Pac-10/Regional Qualifier (Triple Jump). Ended season with appearance in West Regional finale (17th, 37-4 1/2), after she fouled her three opening Pac-10 attempts. Competed outdoors seven times in the triple jump, and led the squad with her season and personal best from May’s Oregon Twilight (1st, 40-8 3/4). She entered the season with a personal best of 39-1 1/2, and as a junior soared past 40 feet twice, and 39 feet in two additional meets, including two meets past the regional qualifying mark (40-2 3/4). Also competed once in the high jump in the season-opening Oregon Preview (seventh, 5-2 1/4). Altogether, ranked sixth in Pac-10, 11th in region, and 67th nationally on regular season best lists. Indoors, competed four times, and ranked second on the squad behind NCAA outdoor veteran Amanda Brown with an indoor personal best from the Pac-10 Invitational (fourth, 40-1 1/4) in February. Jumped a then-personal best in the Bobybuilding.com Invitational (second, 39-5 3/4) at the end of January. 2002-03: Pac-10 Scorer (Triple Jump). Scored in Pac-10 debut and missed windy best by 3/4 inches (eighth, 39-3 3/4w, w:+3.3) after entering meet seeded seventh. Set windy personal best came in Long Beach State Invitational (second, 39-10 1/2w, w:+2.9). Altogether, topped 39 feet in four of her seven meets outdoors in 2003, with her Oregon Twilight (second, 38-7 1/2) not far away. Was victim of windy readings with +2.0 marks in five of her six meets, and two other outings without readings. Also long-jumped in three meets with season best in Stanford Invite (19th, 17-2, w:+1.9). Indoors, ranked second on team with season best from Mountain Pacific Championships (fifth, 37-10 1/2) behind NCAA qualifier Amanda Brown. Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoors - Long Jump - 5.23m (17-2), Stanford Invitational, Stanford, Calif. (3/28/03). Triple Jump - 12.15m (39-10 1/2w), Long Beach Invitational, Long Beach, Calif. 2001-02: Ranked second on team in triple jump (37-11.5), barely a foot shy of the Pac-10 qualifying mark (39-2 1/4). Competed in eight meets with three past the 37-foot line and topped the 38-foot line with a wind-aided 38-10 1/2 (11.85m) in her season debut and win in the Linfield Icebreaker. Also added win the following meet in the Montana State-Weber State Triangular (36-3, 11.05m). Indoors, ranked second on squad with season best from UW Invitational (sixth, 37-11 1/4) to qualify for Mountain Pacific Championships. Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoors - Triple Jump - 11.57m (37-11 1/2) (then-PR), Mt. SAC Relays, Walnut, Calif. (4/19/04). Indoors - Triple Jump - 11.56m (37-11 1/4) (then-PR), Washington Invitational, Seattle (2/9/02).
Prep: As senior in 2001, placed in 3A state triple jump (third, 36-5 1/2) and high jump (11th, 5-0), after straining her hamstrings a week before the district competition, and three weeks before the state meet. As junior claimed second in 3A high jump (5-5) and won triple jump (38-6 1/4). Lettered two seasons in volleyball at middle blocker and one season in basketball at center. Also competed for Cascade Striders club team. High School (Coach): Newport '01 (Mindy Leffler).
Personal: Sports marketing major. Her mom is Chris Hayward-Mayhew and her step-dad is Stan Mahew. Modeled as a freshman for Club Med Perfume, and in high school for Vogue and Self magazines.
