PERSONAL — Born Marcus K. Davis in LaMarque, Texas on Jan. 2, 1991. Parents: Marcus and Yolanda Davis. Family: Two sisters. High School (Coach): Clear Creek (Darrell Warden), 2008. Major: Undeclared. Note: Father, Marcus Sr., played college baseball at Grambling, and sister Candice was an All-Conference USA volleyball player at SMU.
2010 — Arrived on campus in June and started classes summer term.
BEFORE OREGON — Appeared in nine games for the No. 2 Longhorns in 2009, making 10 tackles (six unassisted), including one sack at Wyoming • Registered a season-high four stops at Baylor and had multiple tackles on four occasions • A prep All-America and three-time first-team all-district selection at defensive back for head coach Darrell Warden at Clear Creek HS (Texas 5A, District 24) • Played in the 2009 U.S. Army All-America Bowl • Rated as the nation’s eighth-best cornerback by ESPN and a member of ESPN’s top 150 • A member of Rivals top 250, was tabbed the state’s best cornerback by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football • Three-year letterman who started at defensive back and wide receiver • Tallied 179 tackles, eight interceptions, 18 pass breakups and five blocked kicks (two punts and three FGs) during his final three seasons • Also scored six TDs on punt and kickoff returns during his career • Earned first-team all-district 24-5A at defensive back and kick returner as a senior, posting 72 tackles, five INTs and nine pass breakups • Also returned 11 punts for 285 yards (26.0 ypr) and a TD • Notched 17 tackles and two PBU against Kingwood • Named first-team all-district 24-5A as a junior with 60 tackles, two INTs and five PBU • Returned eight kickoffs for 366 yards (45.8 ypr) and three TDs • Earned first-team all-district 24-5A honors as a sophomore, registering 47 tackles, two INTs and four PBU • Returned eight kickoffs for 234 yards (29.3 ypr) and two scores • A three-year letterman in track and field, won district championships in the 110-meter hurdles and long jump • Holds prep personal bests of 14.1 in the hurdles and 24-5 in the long jump • Set a Junior Olympics age group national record in the triathlon (shot put, long jump, 1,500m) with 996 points as a 10-year-old • Set another Junior Olympics age group national record in the pentathlon (100m hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump, 1,500 meters) with 3,326 points as a 14-year-old.
