Returns for second and final season for Ducks as a senior in 2005 after he transferred from St. Louis Community College before the 2004 season. Qualified for the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships in both the long jump and triple jump as a junior, and was an All-American in the former event. All-time for UO, ranks fourth in triple jump and ninth in the long jump based on his junior indoor season bests (50-4 / 25-5 1/2). Among collegiate returnees in the outdoor long jump and triple jump in 2005 ranks third/third in the Pac-10, third/fifth in the region and 10th/23rd nationally. Ranked 29th in the U.S. in the long jump (25-6 1/4 indoors) and 25th in the triple jump (52-10 1/4) based on his Duck indoor bests in 2004.
2003-04: All-American (Indoor Long Jump). Weathered leg injuries outdoors to still score in Pac-10 Championships in long jump (fourth, 24-8 1/4, w:0.0)) and triple jump (fifth, 50-8 3/4, w:0.0).Overall outdoors, competed in triple jump in four contests, and topped 50 feet in three meets, including +51 feet efforts in Jim Click Shootout (second, 51-5, w:0.2) and Oregon Invitational (first, 51-1 3/4w, w:2.7). Long-jumped in three outdoor stops with season best at March's end in Jim Click Shootout (first, 25-4 1/2, w:0.7), and added another win in the Pepsi Team Invitational (24-2 1/4w, w:2.4). At end of outdoor slate, ended outdoor season ranked third/second in the Pac-10, fourth/seventh in the region and 18th/37th in the NCAA, respectively, based on season bests. Indoors, claimed last All-America honor in NCAA debut and missed scoring by one place and one inch (ninth, 25-2 1/2) - one place off his pre meet seed (eighth) based on season bests (25-6 1/2). The next day in the NCAA triple jump, a leg injury slowed him in the final (13th, 50-1 1/4) after he entered meet seeded eighth nationally with a season best of 52-10 1/4. Altogether, competed in five indoor triple jump contests, and cleared 49-10 or better in all of them, including +50-foot efforts in the Husky Indoor Preview (first, 50-8) and Mountain Pacific Championships (first, 52-10 1/4). In indoor long jump, topped 25 feet in final three meets of season - Iowa State Classic (first, 25-5 1/2, indoor PR), Mountain Pacific Championships (third, 25-6 1/4, indoor PR) and NCAA's (ninth, 25-2 1/2). Added two other indoor long jump wins to open season in Husky Indoor Preview (24-1 1/2) and Bodybuilding.com Invitational (first, 24-8 1/2). Made two sprint appearances for Ducks - once outdoors in Oregon Preview (100, first, 10.88) and once indoors in Iowa State Classic (60, 15th, 6.97-f, 7.00-p). Before Oregon: Attended St. Louis Community College in 2000-01 as a point guard in basketball, then switched to jumping as a sophomore in 2001-02, and also competed in 2002-03. Made USA Championships debut in mid-June 2003 in triple jump (15th, 49-11 3/4). Won 2003 national junior college triple jump titles both outdoors (53-0) and indoors (52-5), and also took second in the long jump in each (25-1 / 24-9). In his first junior college season in 2002, added three more top-five jumping honors (outdoors - third, 25-3; fifth, 50-2; indoors - long jump, fourth, 23-11), also ran in 2003 outdoor finale in 100 (10.62) and on 4x100 (fourth). Prep: Was a letterwinner in track, basketball, and football, and owned high school personal bests of 24-0 in the long jump, and 47-3 in the triple jump. Placed top six in state championship as a junior in triple jump (sixth) and as a sophomore in long jump (second), then missed senior season finale because of an injury. Was an all-conference and all-district pick in football at quarterback and free safety, and in basketball at small forward. High School (Coach): Parkway West ?00 (Dale Shepard).
