Soccer Hosts Penn State, Iowa
10/07/26 | Women's Soccer
Oregon welcomes Penn State and Iowa to Papé Field for the first time. The Ducks and Nittany Lions meet Thursday at 6 p.m. (B1G+) while the Ducks and Hawkeyes wrap up the weekend Sunday at 1 p.m. (B1G+).
THIS WEEK
Oregon has two special theme games this week. Thursday is the annual Pink Out game to raise cancer awareness and prevention. Fans are encouraged to wear pink. Sunday is Senior Day for the team's five seniors.
CORNER KICKS
• Sunday, Oregon will honor the five seniors on the 2026 squad - Cailin Bloom, Taylor Dever, Lauren Kenny, Kailey Kimball and Ella Osmussen.
• Oregon's defense continues to perform at historic levels. The Ducks have only allowed seven goals in 12 games this season, which is the best in the modern era, and overall trails only the 1981 squad that allowed just five goals in its first 12 matches.
• The Ducks are third in the Big Ten in goals against average (0.58), which ranks 24th nationally.
• At the offensive end, Oregon leads the Big Ten in shot accuracy (.480).
HISTORIC DEFENSE
The Ducks have allowed just seven goals in 12 matches which is the fewest allowed to start a season in the modern era (1996-present), and overall trails only the 1981 team, which surrendered just five goals in its first 12 matches. The previous best defensive effort in the modern era was eight goals allowed in 12 matches by the 2014 and 2021 teams.
ON TARGET
The Ducks are the most accurate team in the Big Ten when it comes to shots on goal. Of the team's 175 shots, 84 have been on target, which translates into a league-best .480 shot accuracy. The Ducks are also averaging 7.0 shots on goal per game. Logan Russo leads the team with a .923 on-target percentage (12-of-13), followed by Carly Cormack at .650 (13-of-20), Lauren Hunter at .545 (6-of-11) and Ellie Felt at .500 (15-of-30).
DUCKS GO TOE-TO-TOE WITH NO. 10 UCLA
Oregon played one of its most complete games of the season, but a penalty kick in the 89th minute – awarded after a video review – allowed No. 10 UCLA to escape with a 1-0 decision Oct. 2 in front of a capacity crowd at Papé Field. Oregon generated two of the best scoring chances during the run of play from Savannah Holley in the 63rd minute and Lauren Hunter in the 86th minute, the latter of which required a world-class save by the Bruins. Oregon goalkeeper Gray Willson finished with a season-best eight saves, one off her career high.
JOYNERS UNIQUE AS NCAA DI HEAD COACHES
Coach Tracy Joyner and her husband Justin Joyner are both head coaches at the NCAA Division I level. They are the only husband-and-wife duo who are head coaches of two different sports at two different DI universities. Justin Joyner is in his first season as Oregon State's men's basketball coach after helping lead Michigan to the 2026 NCAA title as an assistant coach.
19 NEWCOMERS SEE THE FIELD
Oregon welcomed 18 newcomers to the team for the fall  - 11 freshmen and 7 transfers. Including Taylor Dever and Kate Cheldelin who redshirted their first season at Oregon last fall, 19 players have stepped on the field for the first time as Ducks in 2026. The only newcomer yet to play is freshman Makea Leonard (injury).
