Road Warriors At It Again
Coming off their second bye week of the season, the No. 9 Ducks will go on the road for the fourth time in 2025 as they kick off the final month of the regular season. Oregon improved to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play with a 21-7 win over Wisconsin to close out October, and the Ducks will put the nation's longest active road winning streak on the line as they travel to Iowa for the first time since 1989 to face the No. 20 Hawkeyes. Oregon is 3-0 on the road this season and has won 10 consecutive road games dating back to 2023, twice as many as the next largest road winning streak in the country. This will be the first matchup between Oregon and Iowa since 1994, with the Ducks holding a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series.
Active Road Winning Streaks (Last regular-season loss)
1. Oregon - 10 (10/14/23 at Washington)
2. Ohio State - 5 (10/12/24 at Oregon)
3. BYU - 4 (11/23/14 at Arizona State)
A Win Would...
» Extend the nation's longest active road winning streak to 11 games.
» Improve Oregon to 14-1 all-time in Big Ten play, and 8-0 on the road since joining the conference.
» Move UO to 43-7 all-time under HC Dan Lanning.
» Make UO 3-1 all-time against Iowa.
Adversity No Match For Ducks' Toughness
Adversity presented itself in all sorts of ways for Oregon on Oct. 25 against Wisconsin, and the Ducks were up to every challenge. Sheets of wind and rain, a tough Badger defense and an injury to starting QB Dante Moore could have derailed the Ducks, but they fought through all of that and more to come away with a 21-7 win in Autzen Stadium. Oregon leaned on freshman RB Jordon Davison, who surpassed 100 yards rushing for the second game in a row while scoring a pair of touchdowns. QB Brock Thomas, a Eugene native, led Oregon to two touchdown drives in place of Moore, including his first career touchdown pass to OL Gernorris Wilson. The Ducks' defense continued to shine while holding Wisconsin to just 86 passing yards, allowing less than 100 yards through the air in back-to-back games for the first time since 1984.
Every Phase of the Game
Oregon has established itself as one of the nation's most well-rounded teams once again in 2025. Entering Week 11, the Ducks are one of only three FBS teams (Indiana, Texas Tech) in the top 10 nationally for scoring offense (5th, 41.3 PPG), total offense (9th, 483.9 YPG), scoring defense (6th, 13.5 PPG) and total defense (4th, 239.4 YPG). Oregon has also been one of the nation's top teams in terms of explosive plays on both sides of the ball, ranking third nationally in plays of 20-plus yards (61) while leading the country in fewest plays of 20-plus yards allowed (13). Oregon's overall team grade of 94.1 by Pro Football Focus is sixth-best nationally and third-best in the Big Ten.
If You're Good Enough, You're Old Enough
It's been a youth movement for the Ducks in 2025 as their last two recruiting classes have taken on prominent roles early in their careers. Oregon leads the nation with 19 touchdowns by true freshmen this season, four more than North Texas (15). UO is also tied with the Mean Green for the most touchdowns scored by freshmen overall this season with 20, seven more than third-place Pittsburgh (13). Oregon has had 33 total true or redshirt freshmen see the field at some point this season, and true freshmen WR Dakorien Moore and DB Brandon Finney Jr. have started each of the first eight games to open their collegiate careers. Redshirt freshman DB Aaron Flowers has also started all eight games, and fellow redshirt freshman DB Ify Obidegwu has made seven starts. Oregon has played 13 total freshmen in each of the first eight games as well as a pair of true sophomores in DB Peyton Woodyard and TE Roger Saleapaga, and 29 total freshmen (12 true, 17 redshirt) saw the field in the season opener vs. Montana State.
Top-10 Staple
The Ducks came in at No. 9 in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season this week, and they have been in the top 10 of the Associated Press poll all season. Oregon has now appeared in the top 10 in each of the last 12 releases of the CFP rankings, and has been in the top 25 in the last 25 rankings dating back to 2020. The Ducks have appeared in the AP top 10 in 41 consecutive polls dating back to Week 3 of the 2023 season, and have been in the top 25 of the AP poll in every release since Week 2 of the 2022 season. Oregon will have chances to get wins over current CFP top 25 teams in three of its final four games of the season, with No. 20 Iowa, No. 19 USC and No. 23 Washington coming up in the month of November.
Scoring at Will
Oregon's offense has been among the most dominant in the nation since HC Dan Lanning took over in 2022, and the Ducks have kept up that reputation in 2025. Oregon is No. 5 nationally in scoring offense (41.3 PPG) and No. 9 in total offense (483.9 YPG), scoring at least 30 points in six of eight games in 2025 as well as 31 of its last 36 contests since the start of 2023. UO followed up its 59-point output vs. Montana State in the season opener with a 69-point explosion against Oklahoma State in Week 2, scoring 50-plus points in back-to-back games for the first time under Lanning and first time since the first two games of 2018. The Ducks added their third 55-plus point game of the year in Week 8 at Rutgers with 56 points in a historic offensive performance, marking the first time UO has scored at least 55 points three times in a season since 2023 and eighth time since 2010.
Incredible Balance
You couldn't ask for a more balanced offense than what Oregon has produced so far in 2025. After being perfectly balanced in the season opener with 253 yards both rushing and passing, the Ducks racked up 319 passing yards and 312 rushing yards vs. Oklahoma State. It was the first time since the 2023 season opener vs. Portland State that Oregon had at least 300 yards both rushing and passing in the same game, and the Ducks shattered those marks in Week 8 with 415 rushing yards and 335 passing yards at Rutgers. Oregon is the only FBS team this season with multiple games of 300-plus yards both passing and rushing, and the Ducks have done so multiple times in a season for the first time since 2015. Oregon is also one of only two FBS schools (South Florida) in 2025 to have four games of 250-plus yards both passing and rushing, and the Ducks are the only team to reach 400 yards rushing and 300 yards passing in the same game.
Thunder And Lightning
The Ducks' offense has heavily featured a pair of true freshmen in RB Dierre Hill Jr. and RB Jordon Davison, who OC Will Stein has given the nickname "Thunder and Lightning." Davison has been a force for the Ducks with a team-high 10 rushing touchdowns while also proving to be more than just a short-yardage back, rushing for 100-plus yards in each of Oregon's last two games against Rutgers (100) and Wisconsin (102). Hill is dynamic in the open field, ranking second nationally with a stellar 9.92 yards per carry while sitting at second on the team with 357 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Through eight games, Davison and Hill have combined to rush for 709 yards and 13 touchdowns on just 87 carries (8.15 YPC).
» Oregon is the only school to have three freshmen with four-plus TDs scored; WR Dakorien Moore also has four touchdowns.
» Davison was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after rushing for 102 yards and two TDs vs. Wisconsin in Week 9.
» Davison is third among Ducks with 352 rushing yards, with 202 coming in the last two games.
» Davison's 10 rushing TDs are No. 2 nationally among all freshmen and tied for 13th overall.
» Davison's 10 rushing touchdowns are also tied with CJ Verdell (2018) for third-most in UO freshmen history.
No(ah) Doubt About It
Hill and Davison have been breakout performers for the Ducks as true freshmen, but redshirt senior RB Noah Whittington remains a focal point in Oregon's backfield. In his fourth year at Oregon and sixth in college football, Whittington has started all six games he's played and leads the team with 433 rushing yards while sitting tied with Davison for the team lead in carries with 51. Whittington is fifth nationally in yards per carry at 8.49, and he has racked up 222 rushing yards on 25 carries over his last two games. The Fort Valley, Ga., native put together his best game as a Duck in Week 8 at Rutgers, where he rushed 11 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns while also catching two passes for nine yards and a score. It was the first three-touchdown game of Whittington's career and his 125 rushing yards were his most as a Duck, and he followed that performance with 97 rushing yards on 14 carries the last time out vs. Wisconsin. Junior RB Jayden Limar has also been effective for the Ducks when healthy, rushing for 249 yards and three touchdowns on 42 carries in six games.
We'll Have Some Moore
The Moore-to-Moore connection has been on full display in 2025 as QB Dante Moore has developed a quick connection with true freshman WR Dakorien Moore. A five-star recruit, Moore has wasted no time while starting each of the first eight games for the Ducks and leading the team with 28 receptions and 443 yards while catching three touchdown passes. He became the first UO true freshman receiver to start a season opener since Josh Delgado in 2019, catching three passes for 26 yards in his debut and also making highlights with a tremendous block on a touchdown by WR Gary Bryant Jr. Moore broke out in Week 2 against Oklahoma State, scoring his first career touchdown on a 65-yard reception and then getting loose for a 25-yard touchdown run, becoming the first UO receiver since Jaylon Redd in 2019 and just the fifth since 1996 to have both a receiving and rushing touchdown in the same game. The freshman provided highlights once again in Week 4 vs. Oregon State with three catches for 63 yards and a TD, opening the scoring with a 23-yard touchdown on Oregon's first drive of the game, and he caught seven passes for a team-high 89 yards in Oregon's double-overtime win at No. 3 Penn State. Moore added a pair of explosive plays in Week 8 at Rutgers, making two catches for 63 yards with a 34-yard touchdown. Moore is tied for third among FBS true freshmen in TD receptions while ranking fourth in receptions and third in receiving yards.
Relentless D
Oregon's defense has been terrific in 2025, ranking sixth nationally in scoring defense (13.5 PPG) and fourth in total defense (239.4 YPG). The Ducks have allowed just 17 total points over their last two games following a 56-10 win at Rutgers and a 21-7 victory over Wisconsin, and Oregon has held six of eight opponents to 14 points or less while allowing 10 points or less four times. UO is tied for fourth nationally in touchdowns allowed this season with just 12 while tying for third in the FBS with just four passing touchdowns allowed. The Ducks have allowed opponents into the red zone just 13 times, tied for fewest in the nation, and they kept Oklahoma State out of the end zone entirely in Week 2 in a dominant 66-3 victory. Oregon allowed just one touchdown each in wins over Oregon State and Rutgers, and both Northwestern and Penn State didn't reach the end zone until the fourth quarter.
No Fly Zone
Oregon enters Week 11 with the top passing defense in the country, leading the nation in passing yards allowed per game (124.6), opponent completion percentage (49.0) and opponent passer rating (88.86). The Ducks are also tied for third nationally in fewest passing touchdowns allowed with just four, and they did not give up a TD through the air until Week 5. Oregon has allowed more than 200 passing yards in a game just once this season (Indiana) while holding teams under 100 passing yards four times, including in each of the last two games against Rutgers (79) and Wisconsin (86). UO also has nine interceptions on the season and is tied for third nationally with three interceptions returned for touchdowns. DB Brandon Finney Jr. had a 35-yard pick-six in Week 7 against Indiana, and ILB Jerry Mixon and DB Peyton Woodyard each returned picks for touchdowns on back-to-back possessions in Week 2 against Oklahoma State. It was the first time Oregon had multiple interceptions returned for touchdowns in a game since the 2013 Alamo Bowl vs. Texas.
» Oregon held back-to-back opponents under 100 passing yards for the first time since 1984.
» The Ducks' 41 pass breakups lead the Big Ten and are seventh-most in the country.
» The Ducks limited Rutgers to 79 passing yards on 8-of-27 passing for a season-low 29.6 completion percentage, marking the lowest completion percentage against since 2007 against UCLA and fourth-lowest since at least 1996.
Setting The Tone
The Oregon defense has stymied opponents in the first halves of games this season, allowing teams an average of just 4.0 points in the first 30 minutes of play, including a first-half shut out of Wisconsin in Week 9. The Ducks allowed a first-half touchdown for the first time this season against Oregon State in Week 4 and has given up just one other first-half touchdown since (Indiana). Opponents have not gained a first down on its first possession of a game in six of eight contests this season, including in Week 9 against Wisconsin, while teams have combined for three points on their opening drives against the Ducks.
» UO's 4.0 points allowed in first halves of games is the second-best rate in the nation, while its plus-18.38 first-half scoring differential also ranks as the second-best in the country.
» Oregon has allowed just three touchdowns outside of the fourth quarter and overtime this season, giving up a total of 42 points in the first three quarters of games (average of 5.3 points).
» Oregon is forcing offenses into a three-and-out on 39.51 percent of drives - the highest rate in the country.
Can't Forget About Teitum
OLB Teitum Tuioti has flown under the radar at times throughout his Oregon career, but the junior is putting together another terrific season for the Ducks. Tuioti is fourth among Ducks with 35 total tackles while leading the team with 8.5 tackles for loss, tied for seventh-most in the Big Ten. Tuioti is also second on the team with 3.5 sacks, just half a sack behind OLB Matayo Uiagalelei, and he has forced a pair of fumbles while adding a pass breakup. The son of defensive line coach Tony Tuioti put together a strong sophomore season in 2024, ranking fourth on the team with a career-high 58 tackles while adding a career-high 5.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss and generating a team-high 34 total pressures.
Fresh Finney
DB Brandon Finney Jr. has been a lockdown corner for the Ducks as a true freshman, leading all qualified FBS cornerbacks with just a 14.3 reception rate allowed this season. Finney is credited by Pro Football Focus with giving up just three receptions for 28 yards on 21 total targets, earning a 79.3 coverage grade. Finney had a career day against Indiana in Week 7, recording a season-high four tackles and his first career interception which he returned 35 yards for a game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter. Finney's pick-six was the first by an Oregon true freshman since Rashad Bauman did so against USC on Oct. 25, 1997. Finney was the top graded UO defender against the Hoosiers, logging a defensive PFF grade of 84.5 to go with a team-high 84.6 coverage grade.
