11/04/25 | Football
EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon inside linebacker Bryce Boettcher was announced on Tuesday as a semifinalist for the 2025 Butkus Award, while outside linebacker Matayo Uiagalelei was named a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award.
The Butkus Award is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding linebacker. The Lombardi Award is given to the top college lineman or linebacker who embodies the disciipline, character and excellence of legendary coach Vince Lombardi.
Both Ducks are one of 12 semifinalists for the respective awards.
Boettcher joins Noah Sewell (2021 & 2022) as the only Ducks to be named semifinalists or better for the Butkus Award.
Uiagalelei is the second Duck to be a semifinalist or better for the Lombardi Award, joining 2018 winner Ugochukwu Amadi.
Boettcher leads the Ducks and is tied for 11th in the Big Ten this season with 64 total tackles while adding 2.0 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and an interception. He is the reigning winner of the Burlsworth Trophy, which recognizes the nation's most outstanding player who began his career as a walk-on, and was announced as a nominee for the award once again on Tuesday.
Uiagalelei leads Oregon this season with 4.0 sacks while adding 5.0 tackles for loss, 14 total tackles and three pass breakups. He also leads the team with 25 total pressures, tied for 10th-most in the Big Ten.
The No. 6 Ducks (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) travel to Iowa (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten) this Saturday (12:30 p.m. PT, CBS) to kick off the final month of the regular season.
