Sappington's Kick Seals Road Win
Oregon outlasted No. 20 Iowa in a top-20 thriller on Saturday in Kinnick Stadium, winning on a 39-yard field goal by K Atticus Sappington with three seconds remaining to extend the nation's longest active road winning streak to 11 games. It was Big Ten football at its core, and Oregon fit right in with 261 yards rushing while holding the Hawkeyes to just 101. Oregon went 54 yards in 10 plays to set up the game-winner after Iowa scored a go-ahead touchdown with 1:51 to play, headlined by a crucial 24-yard pass by QB Dante Moore to WR Malik Benson. Sappington was 3-for-3 on field goals, including earlier makes of 46 and 40 yards. Moore finished the game with 112 passing yards, but was 5-of-7 for 47 yards on the final drive and also had Oregon's longest rush of the game with a 49-yard run earlier in the game. RB Noah Whittington led the rushing attack with 118 yards on 17 carries, and freshmen RB Jordon Davison and RB Dierre Hill Jr. combined for another 97 yards and a touchdown to pace an offense that was shorthanded due to multiple injuries. ILB Jerry Mixon led the defense with a career-high 13 tackles, OLB Teitum Tuioti and ILB Bryce Boettcher each had a sack, and DB Brandon Finney Jr. forced a pair of fumbles.
Every Phase of the Game
Oregon has established itself as one of the nation's most well-rounded teams once again in 2025. Entering Week 12, the Ducks are one of only three FBS teams (Indiana, Texas Tech) in the top 15 nationally for scoring offense (T-9th, 38.7 PPG), total offense (13th, 471.6 YPG), scoring defense (6th, 13.8 PPG) and total defense (3rd, 239.3 YPG). Additionally, UO owns the nation's top passing defense at 126.1 yards allowed per game, and ranks sixth in rushing offense at 239.67 yards per game. Oregon has also been one of the nation's top teams in terms of explosive plays on both sides of the ball, leading the country in fewest plays of 20-plus yards allowed (15) while ranking second in offensive plays of 20-plus yards (66). Oregon's overall team grade of 93.6 by Pro Football Focus is fifth-best nationally and third-best in the Big Ten.
If You're Good Enough, You're Old Enough
It's been a youth movement for the Ducks in 2025 as their last two recruiting classes have taken on prominent roles early in their careers. Oregon leads the nation with 20 touchdowns by true freshmen this season, five more than North Texas (15). UO also leads the nation with 21 touchdowns scored by freshmen overall, one more than the Mean Green. Oregon has had 34 total true or redshirt freshmen see the field at some point this season, and true freshman DB Brandon Finney Jr. has started all nine games. WR Dakorien Moore started each of the first eight games before missing Oregon's game at Iowa due to injury. Redshirt freshman DB Aaron Flowers has also started all nine games, and fellow redshirt freshman DB Ify Obidegwu has made seven starts. Oregon has played 12 total freshmen in each of the first nine games as well as a pair of true sophomores in DB Peyton Woodyard and TE Roger Saleapaga, and 29 total freshmen (12 true, 17 redshirt) saw the field in the season opener vs. Montana State.
Top-10 Staple
The Ducks came in at No. 9 in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season last week, and they have been in the top 10 of the Associated Press poll all season. Oregon has now appeared in the top 10 in each of the last 12 releases of the CFP rankings, and has been in the top 25 in the last 25 rankings dating back to 2020. The Ducks have appeared in the AP top 10 in 42 consecutive polls dating back to Week 3 of the 2023 season, and have been in the top 25 of the AP poll in every release since Week 2 of the 2022 season. Oregon claimed its first win of the season over a CFP top-25 team last week at No. 20 Iowa, and have two more games remaining against teams in the initial CFP rankings in No. 19 USC and No. 23 Washington.

Scoring At Will
Oregon's offense has been among the most dominant in the nation since HC Dan Lanning took over in 2022, and the Ducks have kept up that reputation in 2025. Oregon is tied for No. 9 nationally in scoring offense (38.7 PPG) while ranking 13th in total offense (471.6 YPG), scoring at least 30 points in six of nine games in 2025 as well as 31 of its last 37 contests since the start of 2023. UO followed up its 59-point output vs. Montana State in the season opener with a 69-point explosion against Oklahoma State in Week 2, scoring 50-plus points in back-to-back games for the first time under Lanning and first time since the first two games of 2018. The Ducks added their third 55-plus point game of the year in Week 8 at Rutgers with 56 points in a historic offensive performance, marking the first time UO has scored at least 55 points three times in a season since 2023 and eighth time since 2010.
Incredible Balance
You couldn't ask for a more balanced offense than what Oregon has produced so far in 2025. After being perfectly balanced in the season opener with 253 yards both rushing and passing, the Ducks racked up 319 passing yards and 312 rushing yards vs. Oklahoma State. It was the first time since the 2023 season opener vs. Portland State that Oregon had at least 300 yards both rushing and passing in the same game, and the Ducks shattered those marks in Week 8 with 415 rushing yards and 335 passing yards at Rutgers. Oregon is the only FBS team this season with multiple games of 300-plus yards both passing and rushing, and the Ducks have done so multiple times in a season for the first time since 2015. Oregon is also one of only two FBS schools (South Florida) in 2025 to have four games of 250-plus yards both passing and rushing, and the Ducks are the only team to reach 400 yards rushing and 300 yards passing in the same game.
Run The Rock
Led by a deep running back room and a solid offensive line, Oregon has featured one of the nation's most dynamic rushing attacks this season. Oregon is No. 2 nationally in yards per rush at 6.36 while ranking sixth with 239.67 rushing yards per game. The Ducks have rushed for at least 200 yards in six of nine games this season, including each of the last three with 415 at Rutgers, 203 against Wisconsin and 261 at Iowa. Oregon has rushed for at least 250 yards five times, and its 415 yards on the ground at Rutgers were the most by the Ducks since going for 477 against California on Nov. 7, 2015. The Ducks lead the nation with 26 rushes of 20-plus yards and are also tied for fifth with 11 rushes of 30-plus yards. Oregon is also tied for fifth nationally with five rushes of 50-plus yards, headlined by pair of 65-plus yard runs at Rutgers by RB Noah Whittington (68T) and RB Jordon Davison (67). RB Dierre Hill Jr. also had a 66-yard touchdown run in Week 3 at Northwestern to give Oregon three rushes of 60-plus yards, tied for fifth-most in the nation.
Explosive Ducks
Oregon has been one of the best teams in the nation this season at generating chunk plays, ranking second nationally with 66 plays of 20-plus yards and leading the country with 26 rushes of 20-plus yards. The Ducks ripped off a season-high 15 plays of 20-plus yards in Week 8 at Rutgers, and they have three games with double-digit 20-plus yards plays this season with 10 against both Oklahoma State and Iowa. Oregon is also tied for No. 9 nationally with nine plays of 50-plus yards, after having three at Rutgers. The Ducks got rushes of 68 (RB Noah Whittington) and 67 (RB Jordon Davison) yards at Rutgers to tie for fifth nationally with three rushes of 60-plus yards this season, with RB Dierre Hill Jr. breaking loose for 66 yards in Week 3 at Northwestern.
New Era Under Center
Oregon faced a new challenge at the quarterback position coming into 2025, after the two most experienced signal callers in college football history and back-to-back Heisman Trophy finalists led the Ducks over the last three seasons in Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel. The Ducks have turned to redshirt sophomore Dante Moore under center in 2025, after he transfered to Oregon from UCLA and sat behind Gabriel for a year in 2024. Moore has been terrific in nine starts while completing 158-of-224 passes for 1,933 yards and 19 touchdowns against just five interceptions.
» No. 9 nationally with a 70.5 completion percentage and No. 7 with a 164.72 passer rating.
» At least three touchdown passes in five of nine games, including a pair of four-TD contests.
» 158 completions have been distributed across 13 different receivers; five Ducks have double-digit catches from Moore.
» Completed at least 74.0 percent of his passes in each of the first three games and five of nine so far.
No(ah) Doubt About It
Redshirt senior RB Noah Whittington is a focal point for the Oregon offense once again in 2025, in his fourth year at Oregon and sixth in college football. Whittington leads the Ducks with 551 rushing yards on 68 carries despite missing two games due to injury, and he has run for four touchdowns while also catching a TD. Whittington has been especially effective over the last three games, averaging 113.3 rushing yards per game during that stretch with 125 at Rutgers, 97 against Wisconsin and 118 last week at Iowa. Whittington ranks second in the Big Ten and seventh nationally with 8.10 yards per carry, and he ran for a whopping eight first downs in Oregon's win at Iowa. The Fort Valley, Ga., native put together his best game as a Duck in Week 8 at Rutgers, where he rushed 11 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns while also catching two passes for nine yards and a score. It was the first three-touchdown game of Whittington's career and his 125 rushing yards were his most as a Duck, and he followed that performance with 97 rushing yards on 14 carries the last time out vs. Wisconsin.
Thunder and Lightning
The Ducks' offense has heavily featured a pair of true freshmen in RB Dierre Hill Jr. and RB Jordon Davison, who OC Will Stein has given the nickname "Thunder and Lightning." Davison has been a force for the Ducks with a team-high 10 rushing touchdowns while also proving to be more than just a short-yardage back, rushing for 100-plus yards in back-to-back games against Rutgers (100) and Wisconsin (102). Hill is dynamic in the open field, ranking third nationally with a stellar 9.35 yards per carry and scoring a key 19-yard touchdown last week at Iowa for his fifth TD of the season. Through nine games, Davison (404) and Hill (402) have combined to rush for 806 yards and 14 touchdowns on just 102 carries (7.90 YPC).

No Fly Zone
Oregon enters Week 12 with the top passing defense in the country, leading the nation in passing yards allowed per game (126.1), passing yards allowed (1,135), opponent completion percentage (49.5) and opponent passer rating (92.99). The Ducks are also tied for second in passing yards allowed per attempt (5.3) and tied for third in fweest passing touchdowns allowed (5), and they did not give up a TD through the air until Week 5. Oregon has allowed more than 200 passing yards in a game just once this season (Indiana) while holding teams under 100 passing yards four times, including in back-to-back games against Rutgers (79) and Wisconsin (86). UO also has nine interceptions on the season and is tied for third nationally with three interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Relentless D
Fueled by its elite passing defense, the Ducks have been one of the nation's very best defenses as a whole in 2025. The Ducks rank third nationally in total defense (239.3 YPG) and sixth in scoring defense (13.8 PPG) while tying for third in total yards allowed per play (4.03). The Ducks have allowed just 33 combined points across their last three games (11.0 PPG) and have held six of nine opponents to 14 points or less, as well as four opponents to 10 points or less. UO is tied for fifth nationally in touchdowns allowed this season with just 14 while tying for third in the FBS with just five passing touchdowns allowed. Oregon kept Oklahoma State out of the end zone entirely in Week 2 while allowing just one touchdown each in wins over Oregon State and Rutgers, and both Northwestern and Penn State didn't reach the end zone until the fourth quarter.
Get Off The Field
The Ducks have done a tremendous job of getting off the field quickly this season, leading the nation in three-and-out rate at 37.08 percent. The key to that success has been Oregon's performance on third down, where the Ducks rank 14th nationally in opponent conversion percentage at just 31.15. UO has held all nine opponents to 40.0 percent or worse on third down, as well as five teams to under 30.0 percent. The Ducks allowed just seven third-down conversions on 28 attempts (25.0 percent) in their first two games of the season, and they have limited their last four opponents to 18-of-56 (32.1%) on third down.
No Explosives
While Oregon's offense has been among the best in the nation at creating explosive plays, the Ducks' defense has been just as good at preventing them. Oregon has allowed the fewest plays of 20-plus yards in the nation this season with just 15 while tying for third in fewest plays of both 10-plus yards (63) and 30-plus yards (8) allowed. UO's defense is also No. 2 nationally in rushes of both 10-plus (19) and 20-plus yards (2), as well as passing plays of both 10-plus (44) and 20-plus yards (13). Oregon has yet to allow a rush of 20-plus yards in the first half of a game this season, and the Ducks held Iowa to just two total plays of 20 yards or more in last week's top-20 road win.
Can't Forget About Teitum
OLB Teitum Tuioti has flown under the radar at times throughout his Oregon career, but the junior has been consistently productive for the Ducks since making an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2023. Tuioti has started each of the last 23 games for Oregon since the start of 2024, and has racked up 132 total tackles with 21.0 tackles for loss, 12.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and three pass breakups across 36 career games. The Hawaii native seems to always find himself around the ball, logging multiple tackles in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season with at least four tackles in 15 of those contests. Tuioti has also recorded a tackle for loss in 12 of his last 13 games, and he is credited by Pro Football Focus with generating 64 total pressures throughout his UO career.
Fresh Finney
DB Brandon Finney Jr. has been terrific for the Ducks as a true freshman, starting all nine games to kick off his collegiate career. Finney has emerged as one of the nation's premier lockdown cornerbacks, ranking second among all qualified FBS corners with just a 21.7 reception rate allowed this season, giving up only five catches for 42 yards on 23 total targets, according to Pro Football Focus. Finney had a career day against Indiana in Week 7, recording a season-high four tackles and his first career interception which he returned 35 yards for a game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter. Finney was the top graded UO defender against the Hoosiers, logging a defensive PFF grade of 84.5 to go with a team-high 84.6 coverage grade. The freshman shined again in Oregon's top-20 win at Iowa last week, matching his season-high with four tackles while forcing two fumbles and logging his first career TFL. Finney's first forced fumble came at a crucial time, knocking the ball loose at Oregon's 13-yard line in the third quarter to thwart an Iowa drive.

Automatticus Does It Again
K Atticus Sappington came through as the hero in last week's top-20 road win at Iowa, sealing Oregon's 18-16 win with a 39-yard, game-winning field goal with three seconds left. It was part of a career-high tying 3-for-3 day for Sappington, who also made a season-long 46-yard field goal and a 40-yarder earlier in the game to lead Oregon's scoring efforts. The Portland native was named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance. It was the second game-winning kick as a Duck for Sappington, who also drilled a game-winning field goal and went 3-for-3 in a comeback win over Boise State in Week 2 of 2024.
Mr. Australia
P James Ferguson-Reynolds has taken over punting duties for the Ducks, solidifying his place as one of the nation's best at the position after three solid seasons at Boise State. Ferguson-Reynolds has punted 21 times with an average of 41.81 yards per punt, pinning 11 of his 21 kicks inside the opponent's 20-yard line. The Australia native has four punts of 50-plus yards and has allowed just one touchback with nine fair catches. Ferguson-Reynolds has been the nation's best punter at limiting returns, as opponents have returned just two punts for minus-1 yards, the lowest mark in college football. Ferguson-Reynolds also put his athleticism on display against Oregon State with a 21-yard rush for a first down on 4th-and-4 in the third quarter.
