New Look, Same Rivalry
Oregon and Oregon State will meet for the 128th time on Saturday, though the storied rivalry will have a different feel this season. The Ducks and Beavers will play as nonconference opponents for the first time since 1963, and will play in the month of September for the first time in the rivalry's history. This is the earliest in the season the Ducks and the Beavers have met each other, and the first time in a month other than November or December since Oct. 13, 1945. Oregon owns a 68-49-10 lead in the all-time series and has won 13 of the last 16 meetings after a dominant 31-7 victory last year in Eugene.
A Win Would...
» Be Oregon's 14th in the last 17 meetings with OSU and would extend UO's all-time lead to 69-49-10.
» Be Oregon's first over OSU in Corvallis since 2018.
» Make the Ducks 3-0 for the second year in a row and fourth time since 2020.
Ducks Outlast Broncos In Autzen
A game full of wild momentum changes saw the pendulum swing in Oregon's favor in the end last week, as the Ducks beat Boise State with a field goal as time expired, 37-34. Oregon defeated Boise State for the first time in program history (fourth meeting), and extended the nation's longest active nonconference home winning streak to 34 games. After a 59-yard touchdown pass from Dillon Gabriel to Traeshon Holden tied the game early in the third quarter, an 85-yard punt return touchdown by Tez Johnson gave Oregon a 27-20 lead entering the fourth. Boise State responded with back-to-back touchdowns to regain the lead, but the Ducks' special teams again came up huge with a 100-yard kickoff return by Noah Whittington that resulted in touchdown after Jayden Limar recovered a fumble in the end zone. The Ducks' defense came up with a couple huge stops in the fourth quarter to set the stage for kicker Atticus Sappington, who drilled a 25-yard field goal as time expired to push the Ducks to a 2-0 start to the season.
» Johnson's punt return touchdown earned him Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
» Johnson recorded Oregon's first punt return TD since Ugo Amadi ran one back 56 yards vs. UCLA on Nov. 3, 2018.
» The kick return touchdown was Oregon's first since a 98-yard return by Mykael Wright vs. Oregon State on Nov. 30, 2019.
» First time since Oct. 20, 2001, vs. Stanford that UO had a punt return and kickoff return TD in the same game.
» First time since Sept. 28, 2013, vs. California that Oregon had two special team TDs in a game (both punt return TDs).
» Sappington delivered Oregon's first game-winning field goal since Camden Lewis walked off Washington State on Oct. 26, 2019

Storied Rivalry
This is the 128th all-time meeting between the Ducks and Beavers, moving it into a tie for the second-most played rivalry in the FBS. Oregon owns a 68-49-10 lead in the series and has won 13 of the last 16 meetings, though Oregon State has won each of the last two games played in Corvallis.
