PERSONAL
Born Daniel James Weaver on June 23, 1980 in Redmond, Ore. Parents: Tom and Rhonda Weaver. Family: Two brothers. High School (Coach): Redmond (Bobby Robinson) '98. Major: Accounting.
HIGH SCHOOL
The three-year letterman garnered first-team Intermountain Conference offensive honors his senior year at center and linebacker in addition to his duties as a long snapper. Also tabbed second-team all-league on defense. Helped key school's basketball team to 1998 conference title in addition to earning first-team all-conference acclaim as a pitcher and first baseman for two-time league champs.
OREGON
The story of the former walk-on lettering as a true freshman and earning a starting berth his second year is no longer a novelty. What impresses coaches is continuing significant improvement with the passing of each off-season. Seized starting center role early in sophomore season, allowing accomplished veteran to switch to guard, and fine-tuned talents to the point his presence is a given. His 24 career starts over the last two seasons is indicative of the consistency he provides. Has quietly become one of program's best offensive line stalwarts in recent memory and could be on the verge of national acclaim should the offense get off to a good start. It's no coincidence why Oregon has boasted a trio of 1,000-yard rushers over the past two years and led the league in fewest quarterback sacks allowed in 2001 behind the third-year starter and two-time Rimington Trophy nominee as one of the nation's top centers. Counted on to provide banner year and is a key to success of school's aspirations on the ground.
2002 - JUNIOR
His growth and leadership at the end of the 2001 season translated into a 13-game starting assignment last year, bringing his consecutive start total to 22. A two-time first-team Pac-10 all-academic selection as well as 2002 first-team all-district choice, his work ethic clearly goes beyond the football field. Was team's offensive player of the game for play vs. Idaho and Arizona after grading out as the top offensive lineman for the fourth time in the 2002 season -- a grade on par with the highest offensive lineman score ever. Graded out as the team's top offensive lineman in eight of 12 regular season games and was recipient of team's Ed Moshofsky Award as team's top offensive lineman following the season. Was selected a second-team all-league pick by Pac-10 coaches, but recognized as first-team choice by The Sporting News.
2001 - SOPHOMORE
Broke into the starting lineup in 11 of 12 games, and completed year with nine consecutive starts. Came off the bench for one of his best performances, grading as team's top offensive line performer vs. USC. Also paced teammates against Utah State, Stanford and Arizona State in addition to earning applause for effort in win over Wisconsin. Piled up season-high 85 snaps at Arizona, partly thanks to 51 rushes. Selected as a Pac-10 first-team all-academic honoree and Verizon academic all-district second-team pick.
2000 - FRESHMAN
Earned initial collegiate spurs as team's short-snapper on special teams, stepping onto the field for nine games following his debut vs. Idaho. Played in two games with offensive unit, with duration of experience extending to nine plays at Arizona State and eight vs. UCLA.
