EUGENE, Ore. – A pair of Oregon football standouts earned national recognition on Tuesday as running back Dierre Hill Jr. was named the Paul Hornung Award National Player of the Week and tight end Jamari Johnson was selected as the John Mackey Award National Player of the Week.
The Hornung Award is presented to the nation's most versatile player, while the Mackey Award honors the top tight end in the country.
Hill and Johnson played major roles in Oregon's 41-27 win at No. 12 USC this past Saturday, becoming just the second Oregon running back-tight end duo ever to go over 100 yards receiving in the same game and first since 1996.
Hill caught four passes for a career-high 105 yards for his first career 100-yard receiving game, becoming the first UO running back to surpass that mark in a game since 2012. Hill also rushed 15 times for 63 yards and two touchdowns, recording his first career multi-TD performance. He had a career-long 62-yard catch in the second half, the longest by a UO running back since 2020.
Hill's 105 receiving yards are the third-most by an Oregon running back in a game since at least 1996, and he became the third FBS running back to go over 100 yards receiving in a game this season.
Johnson returned from a two-game injury absence to catch a career-high seven passes for a career-high 119 yards, including three catches of 15-plus yards. He became the first Oregon tight end to reach 100 yards receiving in a game since 2019.
The No. 15 Ducks (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) are on a bye this week before returning to action with a top-25 showdown against No. 23 UCLA (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Autzen Stadium (12:30 p.m., CBS).
