08/18/26 | Women's Soccer
EUGENE, Ore. – Forward Shiloh Baird and defender Taylor Dever were honored by the Big Ten Tuesday after leading Oregon to identical 3-0 wins against Portland State and Gonzaga to open the 2026 season. Baird was named the league's Freshman of the Week, while Dever earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Â
Baird became just the third freshman in program history to score a goal in Oregon's first two games of the season. She is the first Duck to accomplish that feat in 28 years and joins Chalise Baysa (1998) and UO Hall of Famer Michele Potestio (1980) on that list.
Â
Baird netted Oregon's third goal in Thursday's season-opening win at Portland State. She arced a shot over the goalkeeper and into a tight corner in the top of the net in the 65th minute. Baird also assisted on Carly Cormack's game-winning goal against the Vikings.
Â
Baird was responsible for the Ducks' second score Sunday versus Gonzaga. Just after halftime, Cormack slipped a pass behind the defense and Baird finished into the upper right corner from five yards out.

Â
Dever was the only Duck to play in all 180 minutes last week and anchored a defensive line that posted two shutouts. Oregon didn't allow a shot on goal in Thursday's win at Portland State and limited the Bulldogs to just four shots on goal on Sunday. She attempted one shot in each game.
Â
This is the first weekly honors for both players. Baird is the first Duck to win freshman of the week honors. Dever is the second Duck to pick up defensive honors, joining teammate Lauren Kenny, who earned defensive player of the week honors after scoring the game-winner in the Ducks' 2-1 win against No. 8 Washington in the 2025 season finale.
Â
Oregon returns to action Thursday at Santa Clara (7:30 p.m., ESPN+).
