Ducks Dominate in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling picked up their first win of the year, their second consecutive victory in an opening meet under head coach Taylor Susnara.
The Ducks got their 2026 season started in a dominant fashion, taking down Missouri State by a score of 267.325-242.880.
"We set two goals today," Susnara said. "One, hit the team event. Two, bring good energy for the entire meet. We absolutely checked in to our attitude and brought fun, positive vibes."
Oregon took the lead after the first compulsory heat and improved the margin of victory as the meet went on. The Ducks displayed strength and consistency in the pyramid event posting a 9.950 in what has become their strongest event.
How It Happened:
Oregon scored a 9.850 in both the compulsory pyramid and toss heats to make the team score 37.800-35.300 after the first event. The Ducks put up another pair of 9.850 scores in the first and third heats of the acro event, elevating their team total to 65.100.
Pyramid was Oregon's strongest event of the day, carrying over last year's standard of success which saw the Ducks take home the individual event title in the open pyramid at the 2025 NCATA Championships. The Ducks put up a 9.900 score in the inverted pyramid, while Selah Bell, Charlotte Lippa, Blessyn McMorris and Ashlyn Parlett earned a near-perfect 9.950 score in the open pyramid.
"We had some big highs today, pyramid being one of them," Susnara said. "But there are also definitely areas of improvement and we're ready to attack those."
Oregon remained consistent in the toss event, with all three scores above nine. Sophomore Morgan Willingham helped the Ducks to a 9.800 in the six-element tumbling pass, while Oregon outscored Missouri State 55.425-71.700 in the event.
The Ducks had a comfortable lead entering the team event, with their cumulative performance earning an 89.100 to solidify a 25-point win.
"I'm super proud of the athletes who competed for the first time in their career today," Susnara said. "We are all looking forward to the remainder of the season."
