Perfect 10 Highlights Battle of Top-Three Teams
02/21/26 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
The No. 2 Ducks showed improvement over their opener with a win Saturday over No. 3 Quinnipiac.
EUGENE, Ore. — Thanks to a perfect 10 in the opening event, Oregon acrobatics and tumbling took an early lead Saturday in a battle of top-three teams at Matthew Knight Arena, and the Ducks never looked back.
The second-ranked UO women led wire-to-wire in beating No. 3 Quinnipac, 270.640-265.425. A perfect 10 in the toss heat of the compulsory event helped Oregon lead from the get-go, and was the first of five event wins for the Ducks on the day, including the team event that clinched the victory.
"I think we got some of the nerves out today," said UO coach Taylor Susnara, whose program improved to 2-0 by winning its home opener Saturday. "Quinnipiac is a fantastic team. We held our own. Team event score was higher than the last meet; that's improvement there, you know. So I'm proud of us for pulling out the win, but definitely a lot of work to do next week."
The Ducks improved their overall score from their season opener at Missouri State on Feb. 8, from 267.325 to 270.640, and also their team event score, from 89.100 to 92.290.
How It Happened: The Ducks won three of four heats in the compulsory event to take the lead out of the gates. That included the program's first 10.0 in the toss since 2020, awarded for the side-by-side precision of a pair of UO quintets — Shea Barnes, Kamryn Horiuchi, Charlotte Lippa, Ashlyn Parlett and Emily Rezner; and Selah Bell, Molly Dahlager, Makenna Guidish, Angelica Martin and Blessyn McMorris.
"We have worked so hard on that compulsory toss since Missouri and we were super proud of that 10.0, and they deserved it," Susnara said. "It was really good. Getting that 10.0 really does boost the confidence going into the remainder of the meet, so it was a big help."
Up 38.000-37.700 at that point, the Ducks extended their lead by outscoring Quinnipiac in the acro event, 65.100-63.300. The duo of Cassidy Cu and Martin scored a 9.800 in the 5-element heat and a 9.750 in the 7-element heat.
Up 94.300-92.350 after narrowly outscoring Quinnipiac in the pyramid event, the Ducks saw the Bobcats narrow that margin as the visitors had the edge in the toss event. But Oregon regained momentum in the six tumbling heats, getting scores of 9.800 from Nya Womack in the aerial pass and Morgan Willingham in the 6-element pass.
"Tumbling is historically a pretty good event for us, and today I think they did a great job of being consistent," Susnara said. "Little technique things here and there (to improve), but all in all I was proud of them for pulling up there going into team event."
In the meet finale, the Ducks entered with a lead of 178.350-177.175 and extended that margin by outpointing the Bobcats, 92.290-88.250.
