
Ducks Dominate in Ranked Matchup

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling continued its winning way on the road Friday night, winning its fourth ranked matchup in a row with a 270.630-257.370 victory over No. 6 Iona.
The Ducks (5-1) put together one of their strongest meets of the year, though it may not have shown in every score. Oregon hit on every routine and never trailed against the Gaels (3-3) in the first meeting between the two sides.
UO shined brightest once again in the pyramid, scoring a 28.75 to help the Ducks build a three-point edge heading into the half. The Ducks dominated the second half to secure their third double-digit win in their last four meets.
How It Happened: Oregon posted a 37.50 in the compulsory event, outscoring Iona by 0.35 in the opening event. Compulsory toss led the way with a 9.75.
The Ducks pushed their lead to 65.850-63.350 with a strong acro performance. Cassidy Cu and Angelica Martin led the way with a 9.65 in the five-element. The Ducks continued to build momentum before the half with a 28.75 in pyramid, led by a 9.80 in the open heat.
Oregon led 94.600-91.200 going into the half and extended their edge with a 28.10 in toss. The Ducks scored a 9.50 in the 450 salto and a 9.45 in the open toss. UO built their biggest lead of the night with a 55.750 in tumbling, outpointing Iona by 3.50 points. Briya Alvarado scored a 9.725 in her aerial solo pass, Riley Watson earned a 9.550 for her six-element pass and Morgan Willingham wrapped the event with a 9.725 in her open pass.
The Ducks led by more than six points heading into team event and closed the meet in stellar fashion. Oregon scored a 92.18 – its third score over 92.00 this season – to seal the Ducks' fourth ranked win in a row.
