Schneider Nets First Career Goal in Loss
10/19/23 | Women's Soccer
BERKELEY, Calif. – Freshman Myra Schneider scored her first career goal, but it wasn't enough as Oregon fell to California, 8-1, Thursday afternoon at Edwards Stadium.
In the 81st minute, Anna Phillips sent a free kick into the box and the ball eventually deflected to Schneider just outside the 18-yard box. Schneider chipped a shot into the upper left corner of the net for her first score.

How It Happened: Oregon (0-13-2, 0-7-0) had a terrific opportunity to score the game's first goal in the ninth minute. On a corner kick, Alice Barbieri found Kristen Conti on the far post, but Conti's header on goal deflected off a teammate and was cleared away.
It was all Cal (6-3-6, 3-0-4) after that until Schneider's goal.
Notable: Schneider became the sixth Duck freshman to register a point this season and the fourth to score a goal. … Anna Solomon, a redshirt freshman from Lafayette, Calif., made her first career appearance as a Duck. Solomon came on in relief in goal to start the second half. She made an impressive one-on-one stop in the 61st minute for her first career save. … Ryann Reynolds sent a scorching free kick on frame in the 44th minute that required a diving save by the Cal goalkeeper. Reynolds led Oregon with two shots. … Defender Anna Phillips made her 51st consecutive start. … The eight goals by Cal were tied for the most ever allowed by the Ducks. UCLA also scored eight goals against Oregon on Oct. 15, 2000.
Up Next: Oregon will play at No. 5 Stanford Sunday at 2 p.m. (Pac-12 Network).
