EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 2 Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team defeated Arizona Christian, 277.755-247.745, at Matthew Knight Arena on Friday night to expand its record to 3-0 so far during the 2019 season.
The Ducks earned three perfect 10's and registered season highs in five of the six events.
How It Happened: The Ducks opened up the night on a hot streak in the compulsory event with two perfect scores of 10.0 in the pyramid and toss heats. Before Saturday night, Oregon had only scored one 10.0 up to that point - during the toss heat at Quinnipiac on Feb. 17. Oregon carried its momentum from compulsory into the acro event. Senior Megan Barney and sophomores Yeelena Faustino, Mikaela Moore and Addie Lacewell opened with a third 10.0 for the Ducks in the 5-element heat. Oregon finished the acro event with a season-best 29.15.
UO came just short of two more perfect scores in the pyramid event, tallying scores of 9.95 in both the synchronized and open heats. The team recorded another season high with a score of 29.75 in the event.
The Ducks led the Firebirds, 98.10-88.30, headed into intermission.
Oregon entered the second half of the meet with a season-best 29.50 in the toss event, led by the 450 salto and open heats with scores of 9.85 each. Arizona Christian posted a 27.35 in the toss event.
Payton Coon registered the highest score for the Ducks in the tumbling event. The junior tallied a 9.800 during the fifth heat in the 6-element pass. The Ducks earned an overall tumbling score of 55.375.
UO concluded the night with a 94.78 in the team event, for a final season high, to record the final scores of 277.755-247.745.

On Oregon's three perfect 10 and overall improved scores:
"Seeing those scores tonight means that we're doing what we're supposed to be doing. We always say 'one meet at a time, one score at a time'. By continuing to progress those scores every week, we will peak at the right time in the season. Tonight's performance puts us in a really good spot headed into next week."
Up Next: The Ducks host No. 1 Baylor for their biggest matchup of the year on Sunday, March 3 at 4:00 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena. The meet will be broadcasted on the Pac-12 Network.
