Ducks' Undefeated Streak Alive and Well

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The University of Oregon Acrobatics and Tumbling team defeated the King University Tornado Wednesday afternoon 283.850 – 272.395 to remain undefeated this season.
The Ducks record moves to 5-0, while King is now 1-4. The Ducks are the only undefeated team left in the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA).
En route to the unblemished record, Oregon won 14 heats, and claimed four events – Compulsory, Toss, Tumbling, and Team – while tying the Pyramid event. The Tornado edged out the Ducks in the Acro event, and won three heats.
How it Happened: To open the meet, the Ducks earned a high mark of 9.95 in the Compulsory toss event to edge out the Tornado 38.10 – 37.15.
In the Acro event, King tallied a 9.60 and 9.80 in the 6 and 7-Element heats respectively to outscore the Ducks 28.95 – 28.45. Oregon held their overall lead however, 66.55 – 66.10.
In the Inverted Pyramid heat, the Ducks and Tornado scored identical scores of 9.70 and would split the Synchronized and Open heats, 9.85 (UO) and 9.90 (KU), respectively.
Heading into the half, Oregon held the lead 95.90 – 95.45.
In the Toss event, Alexis Cross, Blaire Wilson, Taylor Galvin, Jalen Kirkland, Sabrina Peyton, and Mari Yacoubian earned the Ducks' first 10.00 of the season in
the Open Toss heat. With help of the perfect score, the Ducks claimed the event 29.50 – 28.40.
Backed behind the power duo of Galvin, and Krista Phillips, the Ducks notched high scores in the 6 Element (9.95) and Open (9.925) Tumbling heats, extending the running tally of 182.95 – 177.425.
Undefeated in the Team event this season, Oregon earned a 100.90 score to King's 94.97.
What it Means: The Ducks are the only undefeated team in the NCATA this season. The last time the Ducks had this long of a winning streak, the team went 6-1, only falling in the last regular-season meet to Azusa Pacific in the 2014 season (282.480 – 283.400).
