Tight Meet Ends in Bears' Favor in Waco

WACO, Texas – The University of Oregon Acrobatics and Tumbling team fell to the Baylor Bears Sunday afternoon 289.745 – 286.050 at the Ferrell Center.
Both the Ducks and Bears are now 5-1 on the season with their only loss coming at the hands of one another at home.
Oregon took the Compulsory event, four heats, and tied heats twice, while Baylor claimed 13 heats and five events.
In three events – Acro, Pyramid, and Toss – the Bears only edged out the Ducks by a margin of 0.4, 0.15, and 0.10 points, respectively.
How it Happened: To begin, Oregon earned a high 9.90 in the Pyramid heat of the Compulsory event to earn an event total of 38.75 – 38.55.
In the Acro event, Baylor turned in heat scores of 9.85, 9.90 and 9.80 for a total of 29.55, sneaking past the Ducks with a running tally of 68.10 – 67.90.
The Bears notched their third 9.90 of the day during the Synchronized Pyramid heat, giving them a 0.35 lead heading into the half.
The margin of scores in the first three heats never wavered past 0.4 points.
The closeness of the meet would continue as the Ducks tallied a 9.80, 9.40 and 9.70 in the Toss event, only falling to Baylor by 0.10 of a point, 29.00 – 28.90.
With the help of a perfect 10.00 in the Open Tumbling heat, the Bears bested the Ducks in the Tumbling event 58.325 – 57.100, the largest score margin of the day of 1.225 points.
In the Team event, a differential of 2.02 points separated Oregon and Baylor, as the Bears came out the victor, 104.77 – 102.75.
What it Means: Both the Ducks and Bears are now 5-1 on the season with their only loss coming at the hands of one another at home.
Prior to the loss, the Ducks were undefeated overall as well as in the Tumbling and Team events.
Oregon's final score of 286.05 is their second highest of the season. The Ducks' highest tally came with a 288.425 win over Fairmont State (3/7/17) at home. Baylor's 289.745 takes over as the highest a team has scored during the 2016-17 season.
Oregon's Team event score of 102.750 is the second highest this season, the highest also being earned over Fairmont State (3/7/17) with a 104.60.
