
Ducks Sweep Battlers to Advance to NCATA Semifinals

WACO, Texas – The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team was victorious in all six events in Sunday's NCATA quarterfinal meet against seventh-seeded Alderson-Broaddus, dropping the Battlers, 276.380-266.000, to advance to the semifinals.
How It Happened: The Ducks (10-2) opened the day with a 38.55-37.75 win in compulsories. Oregon took three of the four heats in the event, including a 9.95-9.65 win in the pyramid heat, and tied with the Battlers in the toss heat with a 9.80 score.
Oregon added to its lead in acro, turning in a 29.00-28.70 triumph. After the teams tied in the first heat and dropping the second, 9.90-9.80, the Ducks used a 9.75 in the 7-element to edge the Battlers and inflate their advantage.
The Ducks took a 97.30-94.95 lead into the halftime break after a 29.75-28.50 victory in the pyramid event. The Ducks tied season highs in the first (9.95) and second (9.90) heats, while also besting the Battlers' 8.80 score with another 9.90 in the release.
Coming out of the locker room, Oregon took all three heats of the toss to post a 28.90-28.20 win.
Oregon piled on in the final two events to close the door on Alderson-Broaddus, earning a 55.00-51.90 victory in tumbling and a nearly five-point win in the team event.
In tumbling, Oregon was the victor in four of the six heats, and won two by a full point or more. The Ducks won 9.45-8.45 in the duo pass, 9.40-7.65 in the triple pass, 8.85-7.95 in the quad pass and 9.75-9.40 in the aerial pass before the Battlers took their first tumbling heat. Alderson-Broaddus would come up with wins in the 6-element pass and the open pass.
The Ducks overwhelmed the Battlers in the team event, tallying a 95.18-90.95 triumph to seal a trip to the NCATA semifinals for the sixth straight year.
Up Next: Oregon will face third-seeded Quinnipiac Monday at 3 p.m. PT for a chance to advance to the NCATA finals for the sixth consecutive season.
