
Ducks Advance to NCATA Finals

WACO, Texas – The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team advanced to the NCATA Finals for the sixth consecutive season with a 283.405-274.995 win over third-seeded Quinnipiac on Monday afternoon.
How It Happened: The Ducks (11-2) won five of six events on Monday to overwhelm Quinnipiac and extend their league-leading streak of NCATA Finals appearances.
Oregon opened the day with a 38.85-37.95 win in compulsories. The Ducks edged the Bobcats 9.70-9.25 in the acro heat. After Quinnipiac took the pyramid and the teams tied with a pair of 9.90's in the toss, Oregon finished off the event with a 9.50-9.00 win in tumbling.
The Ducks tallied marks of 9.75, 9.90 and 9.70, respectively, in the three acro heats to sweep the event and notch a 29.35-29.00 victory to extend their lead.
The Bobcats managed to tie the Ducks at 29.70 in the pyramid. The two teams tied with a pair of 9.95's in the first heat, then traded wins for the final two. Oregon took heat 2, 9.90-9.85, while Quinnipiac snagged a 9.90-9.85 triumph in the final heat. The Ducks led, 97.90-96.65 at the half.
Coming out of the locker room, Oregon got back on track with a 28.85-28.50 win in the toss. The Ducks posted a 9.70 and a 9.75 in wins in the first and third heats, respectively.
Oregon stretched its lead yet again in tumbling, taking five of the six events to earn a 56.825-55.125 event victory. Sophomore Taylor Galvin, who was crowned event national champion in the heat on Saturday, posted a 9.925 in in 6-element pass to lead the Ducks. The score was the sophomore's second highest of the season. The only tumbling heat the Bobcats were able to steal was the open pass, in which Oregon fell, 9.775-9.70.
Carrying a 183.575-180.275 lead into the team event, the Ducks were able to finish off the win. Oregon scored a 99.83 to best the Bobcats' 94.72 and clinch a trip to the finals.
Up Next: The Ducks will take on the winner of tonight's semifinals matchup between No. 1 Baylor and No. 4 Hawaii Pacific Tuesday at 5 p.m. PT.
