Oregon Soccer Opens 2011 at Boise State Tournament

EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon soccer team opens the 2011 regular season at the Boise State Tournament Aug. 19-21 in Boise, Idaho. The Ducks will face Wyoming on Friday at 1:30 p.m. (PT) and Boise State on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches are scheduled to be played at BSU's Boas Sports Complex.
UO maintains a 2-0 record in the series history with Wyoming, posting a 1-0 road win in the last meeting back in 2005. The Cowgirls return 10 letterwinners and six starters from the 2010 squad that finished 7-10-3 overall.
Oregon is 3-0 all-time against Boise State, including a 2-0 home win over the Broncos in the 2010 season-opener. BSU returns 22 letterwinners and six starters from last year's team which went 8-10-3 overall.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
Oregon will play at Pape' Field on Aug. 28 against UNLV in the first of eight home matches this season. UO will then host a four-team tournament the weekend of Sept. 2-4, playing New Hampshire on Friday night before a Sunday contest with No. 15 Santa Clara.
2011 SCHEDULE RELEASED
Oregon announced its finalized 2011 fall schedule which includes nine non-conference opponents in addition to the inaugural 11-game Pac-12 Conference schedule. Six of the Ducks' 20 opponents opened the season ranking in the NSCAA Top 25 (Stanford, Santa Clara, UCLA, Oregon State, Washington, USC).
Oregon will play eight games at home throughout the season which will include three non-conference opponents and five Pac-12 opponents. Non-conference play ends with two neutral-site games against UC Davis and Florida International at the Oregon State tournament scheduled for Sept. 16-18.
Pac-12 play will begin Sept. 23 with a home match against Utah. Oregon will then play five consecutive road contests in league play from Sept. 30 through Oct. 16. UO returns home to play four consecutive contests, before wrapping up the regular season at Oregon State (Nov. 4).
OREGON ADDS 12 NEWCOMERS TO 2011 ROSTER
The Ducks added12 newcomers which come from four different states: four players from Oregon, five from California, two from Colorado and one from Georgia. The deep recruiting class includes four student-athletes capable of playing either forward or midfielder, seven that can play defender or midfielder, and a cornerstone goalkeeper.
LIBKE NAMED TO USA ALL-STAR TEAM
Junior midfielder Scout Libke was named to the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program's Under-19 team which played three games in Germany and took in three Women's World Cup matches in July. Libke, from Portland, Ore., represented Region IV ODP in the international event. She started all 20 matches as a central midfielder for the Ducks in 2010, playing a team-best 1,825 minutes on the pitch. Libke finished third on the team in scoring with two goals and two assists. She was also a Pac-10 Conference All-Academic Team honoree last season.

PAC-12 CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL ANNOUNCED
Oregon was picked to finish tied for eighth in the Pac-12 Conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Ducks earned 49 points which tied with Washington State. Stanford was selected the preseason favorite as the 2010 NCAA runner-up garnered 121 points and all 11 possible first-place votes.
ERICKSON UO'S ALL-TIME WINNINGEST COACH
Head coach Tara Erickson became UO's all-time wins leader with a 2-1 overtime victory over San Diego State on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010. The win was Erickson's 50th as mentor of the Ducks, passing Billy Steffen who had 49 victories in nine years with UO.

• Over the last three seasons, 24 UO players have been recognized as part of the conference's all-academic teams.
• Named 2006 Pac-10 Coach of the Year after leading the Ducks to a 6-1-2 league mark and a second place finish.
• A two-time all-conference selection (1994-95) and three-time team MVP during her playing career at Washington.
DUCKS WELL REPRESENTED ON PAC-10 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS
The 2010 Pacific-10 Women's Soccer All-Academic teams featured 10 UO players. Senior forward Jen Stoltenberg was named to the second team (3.4 GPA, business administration). Nine other Oregon players received honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic recognition. Rianna Mansfield and Mercedes Walters; junior Taylor Jones; sophomores Nicole Bakke, Kelsey Hones, Scout Libke, Maddy Mercier and Lauren Thompson.
