Oregon Ends Invite On Winning Note

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon closed the World Vision Invitational with an 87-58 victory over Portland State on Sunday afternoon at McArthur Court.
With the win, the Ducks improve to 5-1 and are off to their best start since 2006-07.
Oregon finishes the World Vision Invitational as the runner-up with a 2-1 record. Wisconsin claims the title after its undefeated performance at the tourney, clinching the championship with a 57-44 victory over Cal State Fullerton earlier on Sunday.
Portland State falls to 2-5 on the year with the loss, going winless (0-3) at the World Vision Invite.
Oregon finished the game with five players in double figures as sophomore Amanda Johnson posted her fourth double-double in UO's last five games. The Santa Rosa, Calif., native had 10 points and a game high 14 rebounds.
It was a career night for sophomore guard Nia Jackson, who scored a game and career high 16 points while adding a game and career high seven assists. The Seattle native also matched her career high with seven rebounds.
Senior guard Micaela Cocks added 13 for Oregon with three assists. She has reached double figures in all six games this season.
Jasmin Holliday added a season-high 12 points to go along with a career-best four assists, while Nicole Canepa fell one rebound short of a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
With 14:15 to go in the game, Oregon held Portland State scoreless for the next the next 4:40, extending its lead to 65-40 with 9:35 left.
The Vikings were led by Kelly Marchant's 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Lexi Bishop added 11 points and Claire Faucher scored 10.
Oregon held a 43-30 advantage at halftime as Jackson led all players in the first half with 11 points, while Canepa came off the bench to chip in 10.
Faucher had 10 points for Portland State in the first 20 minutes.
The Vikings held a 10-7 lead early on, but a 9-0 run fueled by buckets from Canepa, Johnson and Tatianna Thomas had he Ducks leading 16-10 with 12:40 to go in the first. PSU closed to within one, 18-17, but would never get any closer.
Notes: Micaela Cocks second half three-pointer, extended her streak of games with a three-pointer to 22…Cocks is the only UO player to reach double figures in all six games…Amanda Johnson scored the 300th point of her career in Saturday's loss to Wisconsin…Taylor Lilley's first basket of the game at the 10:42 mark of the first half as for the 901st point of UO career. She needs 97 points to join the 1,000-point club. She would be the 21st member.
FIFTH GAME
Wisconsin 57, Cal State Fullerton 44
Wisconsin clinched the 2009 World Vision Invitational title with a 57-44 win over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday afternoon at Mac Court.
With the victory, the Badgers improved to 6-1 on the season and an undefeated 3-0 at the WVI.
Cal State Fullerton is now 3-3 on the year, and finished the Invite with a 1-2 record.
Alyssa Karel led the Badgers with 17 points in the win, and was named the WVI Tournament MVP. Lin Zastrow was also named to the all-tournament team for Wisconsin.
Cal State Fullerton was led by Lyndsey Grove's 16 points. Grove was also voted to the all-tournament team.

UP NEXT
Oregon will host three games next week with Portland (7 p.m., Wed.), Boise State (7 p.m., Fri.) and Long Beach State (2 p.m., Sun.) on the schedule. The three-game stretch will mark Oregon's final home games until opening Pac-10 play against Washington on Jan. 1.

Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the game at McArthur Court. The Mac Court box office opens 90 minutes prior to game time, and the doors to McArthur Court open 60 minutes prior to game time.
The Ducks will close the non-conference portion of their schedule on the road at Georgia Tech (Dec. 16), Wyoming (Dec. 20) and Utah (Dec. 22).

Oregon fans with a ticket stub from Thursday's Civil War football game against Oregon State will receive free general admission to Friday's women's basketball game with Boise State.
Next Sunday, Dec. 6, is Dad & Daughters day at Mac Court. Purchase an adult general admission ticket, and receive free general admission for a child.
