Oregon 95, Portland 68
December 2nd, 2009
Oregon Head Coach Paul Westhead
“I'm happy for the victory. We certainly played well enough to win. Our press at times was helpful to us. I am hopeful that we can and will play better basketball. 6-1. I'm happy for our team.”
“I'm well aware that we need to improve, and I think that 6-1 and need to improve is the best place to be. So stay tuned.”
“We need to be a better team in our presses and break. So, hopefully what you see is not the finished product.”
On AJ:
“My first impression was that she is a very hard worker. She is tenacious. She is a potential big who can outrun people in the press, get open, and be able to score. I'd say she is an expected surprise.”
On Lilley:
“We give her the green light to let them go. She'll settle in and start stroking the ball. She had some good looks in the first half, she is just having some bad luck. She is too good of a shooter and too good of a player.”
“I would like to see less turnovers, hopefully 11-12 all the time. I'm greedy for offensive rebounds. 12 is not nearly enough, it should be in the 18-24 area. They need to do better, and I know they will.”
“We definitely had a good rhythm. I was taking the shots I was given. I was lucky and they fell today.”
On press:
“We did an okay job but we need to improve our energy and our spark and be more consistent.”
On off. Rebounds:
“I agree with coach. We are looking for 18-35, so 12 is definitely below the mark we are looking for.”
On her versatile role:
“I like to do whatever the team needs, so filling that role is fine for me.”
