Returns as junior in 2007-08 as the top Duck veteran in the 110m and 400m hurdles, based on personal bests (14.02 / 52.37). Enters season ranked eighth all-time for UO in the 110m hurdles, and is 1.10 seconds away from a top-10 ranking in the 400m hurdles (10th is former teammate Eric Mitchum, 51.27). Indoors, ranks sixth all-time for UO in the 60m hurdles (8.10), only .06 seconds behind teammate Walter Thurmond III (fifth, 8.04). In '08, will set sights on regional standards in 110m / 400m hurdles (14.30 / 52.51). Saved best sophomore performances for end of '07 campaign and was a Pac-10 scorer in both hurdles events, ran hurdles personal bests in the regional, and ran on NCAA-qualifying 4x100m relay. As a freshman in '06, was a Pac-10 competitor and USA Junior Championships qualifier in the 110m and 400m hurdles and competed in the former event. As a prep, the high school All-American swept Kansas state titles in 110 and 300 hurdles as a junior and senior and was top 10 nationally-ranked both seasons in each hurdle event.
2006-07: Pac-10 Scorer (110m Hurdles / 400m Hurdles). Stepped up in big way at end of outdoor season with top-eight finishes in the Pac-10 Championships 110m hurdles (seventh, 14.11, w:1.3) and 400m hurdles (52.64) after he entered the meet seeded 10th in each event. Continued his postseason success two weeks later in the West Regional and placed sixth in the 110m hurdles final (14.25, w:1.5) - five places better than his pre-meet seeding - after he ran a .09-second personal best in the prelims (14.02, w:1.1). Also ran the 400m hurdles prelims in the West Regional (ninth, 52.09) and scored a .28-second personal best and bettered his pre-meet seeding by 14 positions. Helped 4x100m relay to third-place finishes in the Pac-10 and West Regional (40.63 / 40.26). In the NCAA finale, the same quartet finished 14th (40.77) - four positions better than their pre-meet seeding. Indoors, topped his preseason 60m hurdles best (8.24) in five of his six last races of the season, and placed ninth against many of the West Coast's best in the Mountain Pacific Championships (8.12). Altogether competed in 21 individual events outdoors (110m hurdles 11; 400m hurdles 10) and eight events indoors (60m 1, 60m hurdles 7). Pac-10 All-Academic Track and Field honorable mention. 2005-06: Pac-10 Qualifier (110m Hurdles / 400m Hurdles). Outdoors, ranked third on squad in 110m hurdles behind a pair of NCAA qualifiers, and clocked season best in the event prelims in the Pac-10 Championships in Eugene (14.43w, w:2.9). Returned later in afternoon to also compete in the 400m hurdles (11th, 53.97). Stepped in at season's end and helped 4x100m relay advance to NCAA Championships with his leadoff leg in West Regional (third, 40.10, 39.86-prelims and the latter mark ranked #10 all-time in UO history. Two weeks later, traveled with 4x100m to NCAA Championships as an alternate but did not compete. Wrapped up season with debut in USA Junior Championships (39" height, 10th-prelims, 13.87, w:1.4) and missed final by only .15 seconds. Indoors, stood third on team in the 60 meters (7.14) and fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.24) behind three fellow Pac-10 outdoor qualifiers. Capped indoor slate with appearance in Mountain Pacific Championships 60m hurdles (10th-prelims, 8.35). Was just shy of the UO all-time indoor list in the 60m hurdles, and needed a time of 8.15 or faster to rank fifth all-time. Altogether, competed in 10 races outdoors (100m - 1, 110m hurdles - 4, 400m hurdles - 5) and four races indoors (60 - 1, 60m hurdles - 3). Prep: USA Today All-American. As a senior, ranked top-10 nationally in 110 hurdles (second, 13.71 / windy state record 13.33w), 300 hurdles (10th, 36.93) and 400 hurdles (10th, 52.49). In summer of '05, competed in Nike Outdoor Nationals in 110 hurdles (first, 13.71 w:1.4) and 400 hurdles (third, 52.49) and also won the AAU Junior Olympic 110 hurdles (13.96, w:-0.6) and 400 hurdles (52.65) and was tabbed meet's Most Outstanding Athlete. Won Kansas 5A state titles as senior in 110 hurdles (14.1) and 300 hurdles (37.7). During season, was pegged Kansas Relays MVP after he won the 110 hurdles (meet record 13.92, w1.6) and 300 hurdles (37.76). Indoors as a senior, ranked first nationally in the 55 hurdles (7.24) and 60 hurdles (7.78). Won Nike Indoor National Championships 60 hurdles in personal best (7.78) that ranked him ninth all-time in prep history, and added ninth overall in 60 meters (6.96). Ranked fourth nationally as a junior in 2004 in the 110 hurdles (13.56, w:1.6) and fifth in the 400 hurdles (52.29), respectively. At the Kansas state meet as a junior, he won the 110 hurdles (13.91, state meet record and third-fastest time in state history) and 300 hurdles (38.71), and added top-three efforts in the 100 (third, 10.69) and 4x100 relay (second, 43.24). In 2004 AAU Junior Olympics, placed second in 110 hurdles (13.97, w:0.6), seventh in 400 hurdles (55.01) and also ran on top-two relays (4x100, second, 41.31; 4x400, first, 3:12.41). As sophomore at state finale, placed top-five in the 110 hurdles (third, 15.01), 300 hurdles (fifth, 40.07) and 4x100 (second, 43.42). In the fall of 2004, was one of six men’s national finalists for the 2004 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award based on academics, community service and athletics. The National Honor Society and National Honor Roll member was the class valedictorian with a 4.12 GPA, and also served as student body president and high school newspaper and yearbook editor. Also won Gatorade Athlete of the Year state award. In football, lettered four seasons at wide receiver and defensive back, and was also a punt and kickoff returner.
