2008-09
: Named to the PING All-America honorable mention team by the
College Golf Coaches Association of America, becoming the first Oregon freshman
to garner All-America honors since Craig Griswold in 1970. All-Pac-10 second
team selection. After playing in only one tournament during the fall, set off
on a torrid spring that saw him become Oregon's top golfer with a 72.3 scoring
average. Seven top-20 finishes in nine events in the spring. Led Oregon three
times, at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, the Pac-10 Championships and the
NCAA Championships. Began spring by tying for 19th at the Hilo Intercollegiate
(72-74-73-219). Tied for 11th at the Braveheart Classic (71-76-73-220). Tied
for fifth at the Duck Invitational (67-78-72-217), where he shot a season-low
67 in the opening round. Tied for 13th at the Western Intercollegiate
(75-76-70-221). Oregon's top golfer at the ASU Invitational, where he tied for
third at 2-under 211 (68-75-68). Terrific debut at the Pac-10 Championships,
where he tied for third at 5-under 283 (74-69-70-70). Helped lead Ducks to
their second straight NCAA Championships by tying for seventh at 7-under 209 at
the NCAA West Regional (69-71-69). Capped college season as Oregon's top golfer
at the NCAA Championships where he tied for 36th (75-71-73-219).
Before Oregon : Finished third at the 2006 World Junior Golf championships and placed seventh in that event in 2007. Played at Cathedral Catholic High School for coach Doug McLean. Team was four-time Western League champions, one-time Southern California regional champions. As an individual, finished second in the 2006 California State Championships.
