McMorris Repeats as NCATA Athlete of the Week
04/01/26 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
EUGENE, Ore. – Senior base Blessyn McMorris has been named the NCATA Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after helping the Ducks to a decisive win over Hawaii Pacific last week.
The Lynwood, Ill., native was once again outstanding in the pyramid event, helping Oregon to five scores of 9.75 or higher. Her performance was capped by a 9.95 in the open pyramid and a 9.90 in the compulsory toss.
McMorris competed in seven heats, plus the team event, and anchored the UO team as they led wire to wire against the No. 15 ranked Sharks. McMorris was present in all three pyramid heats, helping the Ducks to a score of 29.55 for the event.
The senior has not missed a meet this season, and has helped Oregon to an average score of 29.542 in the pyramid event this year. McMorris has been a mainstay in the compulsory toss as well, one of the Ducks' strongest events this year. The team has scored 9.85 or higher in every meet, including a perfect 10 against Quinnipiac earlier this season.
After being named an NCATA all-American last season, McMorris has earned three weekly awards this season. McMorris is no stranger to NCATA weekly awards, as she earned Specialist of the Week honors once, Athlete of the Week honors in the first week of 2026 and once more in 2025. She earned Freshman of the Week recognitions three times in 2022, and remains the only Duck in program history to be named Freshman of the Year.
Morgan Willingham earned an honorable mention nod for Specialist of the Week after posting her second highest score for the season in the tumbling event. This marks the first recognition for Willingham this season.
The Ducks return to the mat for their final competition of the regular season on Monday, April 6 when they host No. 1 Baylor on senior night at Matthew Knight Arena.
