Ducks Make First Road Trip

Ducks head to Texas for pair of matches.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team hits the road for the first time this spring, traveling to Lubbock, Texas, to take on No. 22 Texas Tech on Sunday before a neutral-site matchup with Sam Houston on Monday.

The Ducks are off to a 3-0 start to the season for the second straight year after a doubleheader sweep of Idaho and New Mexico State at the Student Tennis Center last Saturday. Oregon defeated both the Vandals and Aggies by identical 4-0 scores after opening the season with a 7-0 sweep of Portland State the week prior.
Junior Tilde Jagare, who was tabbed Oregon's Player to Watch by the Big Ten, has played all three matches at the No. 1 position in the singles lineup for the first time in her career, going 3-0. Olivia Symons is also 3-0 in singles while playing at No. 2.
Freshman Virginia Crocker and sophomore Bridget Mihulka are each 2-0, playing at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively.
UO's doubles teams are off to a combined 6-1 start this spring, with four different pairing picking up a victory. The freshman tandem of Hadley Appling and Crocker are 2-0, while Jagare and Symons are 2-1 at the top spot in the lineup.
Texas Tech, ranked 22nd in the latest ITA poll, presents the first ranked challenge of the season for the Ducks. The Red Raiders are 3-1 this season and suffered a 4-0 setback to No. 10 Oklahoma State in their last match. Hailey Murphy is the nation's 110th singles player and is also part of the 75th-ranked doubles team along with Yekaterina Dmitrichenko.
Oregon and TTU have split four all-time matchups. The 23rd-ranked Red Raiders narrowly escaped Eugene with a 4-3 decision last season.
Sam Houston is 0-2 so far this season, falling to No. 2 Texas A&M and Lamar. Monday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Ducks and Bearkats.
