Football Practice Report: Aug. 18
08/18/25 | Football
The Ducks began another week of preseason camp Monday morning in Autzen Stadium.
Preseason camp continued for the Oregon football team on Monday, when the Ducks transitioned to morning practices inside Autzen Stadium.
After two-plus weeks of working out in the afternoon, the Ducks moved to the morning, their preferred schedule during the season. The regular season begins next week.
Following Monday's practice, defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi met with local media, as did linebacker Devon Jackson and defensive end Ashton Porter. Video of those interviews is embedded below.

Some highlights from coach Lupoi …
On where the defense has improved as the regular season approaches: "I don't know if there's some specific improvement to really, truly test yet; we'll find out pretty soon. Here are our goals, are to stop the run at even a much higher standard than the way we finished. We finished our rivalry game (last season), and after game 12 we were near where we want to be as a top-10 defense in that category, and then gave up way too many rushing yards in the postseason, to get our yards per carry way up. So that's one immediately, that if we're going to be the defense and the team that we want to be, we've got to stop the run. And then our red-zone efficiency is what we're trying to attack."
On the depth of the cornerback position: "We've got some quality players there, and hungry players. I just had an individual meeting with that group, and it's exciting. And it's a reminder of, just like the National Football League, every single day we come to work we are fighting, and we're fighting for our jobs, and ultimately somebody is going to run out there first. But certainly my plan and our plan is to have a healthy rotation going in that position, and a reset competition every single week of who runs out there first."
