Football Practice Report: Aug. 12
08/12/25 | Football
The Ducks were in the Moshofsky Center on Tuesday as preseason camp continued.
Preseason camp continued for the Oregon football team on Tuesday afternoon, the second consecutive day the Ducks practiced inside the Moshofsky Center as temperatures soared to 100 degrees around Eugene.
Following practice, head coach Dan Lanning met with local media and provided a couple of news updates on two players. Defensive back Trey McNutt suffered a broken leg and has had surgery, Lanning said, with the door open for a potential return later this season. Receiver Jurrion Dickey is away from the team after an indefinite suspension.
Offensive lineman Iapani Laloulu — aka "Poncho" — and defensive back Dillon Thieneman also met with local media following practice Tuesday. Video of all three interviews is embedded below.

Some highlights from coach Lanning …
Initial impressions of Tuesday's practice in light of the defense winning the day in Saturday's scrimmage: "Competitive practice. We had some game-on-the-line periods, working some situations, worked the red zone. Really proud to see the offense really bounce back so far this week. Like I told you, defense really won that scrimmage, but offense has had a really good week so far this week. A lot of competitive spirit, a lot of player leadership. That's something we've been wanting to see show up that's shown up today and in the last few days. So want to continue to push that trend."
On where he's seen growth since the start of preseason camp: "There's been a lot of back and forth, really on both sides. Generally in a scrimmage — especially early in the season — you're normally going to see defense have a little bit more success. I thought we tackled well; that was a big point of improvement. We've coached that really hard, and that's shown up,. I thought some guys on our offensive line did a really good job getting movement at the point of attack. So some really good back and forth."
On which players are providing some of the leadership he has liked seeing: "Just even today we had some guys get up and talk to the team right afterwards — Kenyon (Sadiq), Bryce (Boettcher), Dante (Moore), Dillon Thieneman. There's several. There's several guys that are doing a really good job there. Poncho has been a really outstanding leader for so far."
