QUACK RECAP
The UO women put together their best offensive performance in conference play last time out, but it was not enough as Oregon fell to Penn State, 19-10. Bri Carrasquillo paced the offensive attack with five goals, needing just seven shots to do so. Anna Simmons was productive from her midfield spot, scoring twice and adding an assist to go with three draw controls and two ground balls. Paige Crowther played the full 60 minutes in goal, facing a season-high 37 shots and making a season-best seven stops.
COMMANDING THE CENTER CIRCLE
The Ducks have dominated the draw control battle so far this season, holding a 143-94 edge thanks in large part to the stellar play of Rachel Pallo. The junior has totaled 71 DCs in her first ten games after totaling 64 a season ago, the fifth most in a single season in program history. She tied her own program record with 12 draw controls in the win over Columbia as the Ducks held a 21-4 advantage for the game.
» Tallied at least five DCs in nine of ten games and recorded 10-plus three times.
» Pallo sits fourth in program history with 162 DCs after nabbing five against Penn State, three shy of passing Morgan McCarthy for third in program history.
» Though she lacks the games played necessary to qualify yet, her 3.85 draw controls per game through 42 games would be the most in program history. Carly O'Connell currently holds the UO record at 2.90.
» Both Anna Simmons and Kristiana Strtak tallied a career-high six draw controls against San Diego State as the Ducks held a 29-11 edge in the game.
» Lexi Jenkins recorded a career-high five draw controls against Cal and has tallied three or more DCs four times this season.
» Oregon is 5-2 this season when the Ducks post more draw controls than their opponent and 0-3 when they grab fewer.
ONE-TWO PUNCH
The UO offensive attack is led by a pair of 20 goal scorers in Anna Simmons and Bri Carrasquillo. Simmons scored 20 goals in the first four games of the season - the most in any four game stretch in program history - and tied the program record with seven goals against Stetson. Carrasquillo has scored 18 of her 27 goals in the last five games, including a career-high six against San Diego State. Both Ducks are tied for sixth in the Big Ten in scoring with 27 goals apiece. Last time out against Penn State, Carrasquillo led the Ducks Penn State with five scores while Simmons tallied her first multi-goal game in Big Ten play to go with an assist.
» Simmons was named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week each of the first three weeks of the season and is the only player in the nation with 25-plus goals, 20-plus ground balls and 15-plus caused turnovers.
» Carrasquillo leads the Ducks in points (32).
» Simmons set career highs against Central Michigan with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.
» Both Carrasquillo and Gabby Santucci matched or set new career highs in goals against both UC Davis and San Diego State.
» Carrasquillo has net a hat trick in three of her last five games.
CAME OUT OF THE GATES FIRING
Oregon started the 2025 season red-hot, outscoring nonconference opponents by a combined 103-69 margin. The Ducks' +34 goal differential through the first seven games ranked fourth in the Big Ten behind only No. 3 Northwestern, No. 5 Michigan and No. 20 USC. UO was especially dangerous in the first half of games during the nonconference slate, as they outscored opponents by a combined 62-34 margin in the opening 30 minutes.
» The quick-strike offense off the opening draw has proved to be effective for UO, as the Ducks scored the first goal in seven of ten games and did so in under a minute six times, with three of those coming in the first 15 seconds of play.
» The Ducks have scored 15 or more goals four times this season, all against non-Big Ten foes.
NOTES ON THE NEW LINE STATE FOES
Thursday marks the first ever meeting between the Ducks and Terrapins. Both teams are looking to snap short losing streaks, as the Terps have dropped two in a row after a 2-0 start in conference play. Kori Edmondson paces the offensive attack with a team-high 28 goals while JJ Suriano handles things inside the crease, tallying 65 saves and boasting a .448 save percentage.
Sunday's meeting between Oregon and Johns Hopkins will be the fifth ever between the two programs and the first since 2010. The Ducks are 1-4 all-time against the Blue Jays, winning in 2009 behind two goals and an assist from Jessica Drummond. Now Coach Drummond has to gameplan against one of the most prolific scoring duos in the Big Ten in Ashley Mackin and Ava Angello, who have combined to score 66 goals so far this season. Reagan O'Brien - the Big Ten Defender of the Week - anchors the JHU defense.
