LAS VEGAS, Nev. – After scoring 39 runs Friday, No. 23 Oregon plated 26 more runs Saturday in a sweep of UNLV and Southern Utah at the UNLV Desert Classic. The Ducks (4-0) defeated the host rebels 10-6 and SUU 16-2 in five innings.
Oregon's 65 runs are the most scored over a four-game span in program history.
Kaylynn Jones had seven RBI on Saturday, while Ayanna Shaw went 4-for-4 against UNLV and Katie Flannery knocked in six runs versus the Thunderbirds.
In the circle, Lyndsey Grein picked up the win against SUU and then came on in relief to get the save against the Rebels.
How It Happened – Game 1 Oregon 16, Southern Utah 2: Flannery drove in a career-high six runs from the ninth spot in the order and Oregon scored six times in the first inning to take control early.
Kai Luschar led off the game with a single and stole both second and third. She scored on an error that allowed Dezianna Patmon to reach base.
After a walk to Stefini Ma'ake, Emma Cox doubled to right field to give the Ducks a 2-0 lead.
Paige Sinicki followed with a double of her own that made it 4-0.
After a second SUU error allowed the Ducks' fifth run of the inning to score, Jones drew a bases-loaded walk that made it 6-0.
Oregon added four more runs in the fourth inning.
Kedre Luschar and Shaw singled and then each stole a base to give the Ducks runners at second and third. Kai Luschar's single chased both runners home.
Jones' single plated Kai Luschar to make it 9-1 before Stefini Ma'ake chased Jones home with a single for a 10-1 lead.
"(Kai) just gets my energy going," said Jones. "I like to see her steal a base. Hitting behind her is great."
Flannery's two-RBI single in the fourth inning made it 12-1. The sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., then stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the fifth inning and her hit to right field scored all three runners.
Jones doubled to center to score Flannery to cap the inning for the Ducks.
Grein started and threw four innings and gave up one run on two hits to pick up her second win of the weekend.
Jones and Kai Luschar both had three hits, while Flannery and Sinicki had two.
Sinicki, Shaw and Kai Luschar each had two stolen bases.
How It Happened – Game 2 Oregon 10, UNLV 6: Kai Luschar led off the game with an infield single and stole second. She then scored on Jones' hit as the Ducks grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
Jones also capped Oregon's two-out rally in the top of the second. Flannery walked and Shaw singled before Kai Luschar beat out an infield single to load the bases. Jones then ripped a two-run single into right field to give the Ducks a 3-0 lead.
"I think we have great energy as a team to come into these tournaments together," said Jones. "I was just thinking the whole time I gotta do my job for the team and it's just great to show everybody else what we can do."
Oregon used back-to-back bunts to score twice in the fifth inning. Paige Sinicki and Dezianna Patmon reached on singles with both runners moving into scoring position on the throw following Patmon's hit. Kedre Luschar then brought Sinicki home with a bunt base hit. One out later, Shaw reached on a bunt that scored Kedre Luschar for a 5-0 lead.

Kedre Luschar followed with a double and pinch hitter Rylee McCoy walked. Shaw singled into right field to score Kedre Luschar and Kai Luschar's RBI groundout made it 8-0.
Twice the Ducks were within a strike of a run-rule victory in the bottom of the fifth inning, but UNLV rallied with five runs in the frame, including a grand slam, to cut Oregon's lead to three.
Oregon tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh inning.
Flannery walked and scored on Shaw's triple. Jones' RBI groundout brought Shaw home to make it 10-6.
Staci Chambers was nearly untouchable through the first four innings against the Rebels before running into trouble in the fifth when she gave up five runs, including a grand slam. Chambers still struck out 10 batters and got the win to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Grein came on and recorded the last out of the fifth inning and then finished the game by striking out four in scoreless innings for her first save of the season.
Kai Luschar, Jones and Shaw all swiped two bases against the Rebels.
Notable: Oregon's four-game run total is eight better that the previous mark, 57 (Feb. 9-11, 2018) … In addition to the four-game record, Saturday morning the Ducks set the three-game standard at 55.
