SENSATIONAL START FOR SIMMONS
Midfielder Anna Simmons made spectacular strides during her sophomore season, solidifying herself as one of the vocal leaders on the Oregon squad. She has kicked off her junior campaign by scoring 13 goals to go along with six draw controls, putting together one of the nation's best stat lines through the first week of play. After matching her career best with six goals in the season opener against Butler, Simmons leveled up and tied the Oregon program record with seven scores against Stetson. As she walked off the field following the Game 2 W, Simmons was named the Big Ten Conference Midfielder of the Week, becoming the first Duck to earn weekly honors from the Big Ten.
» Leads the nation in goals and is second in goals per game (6.5); tied for fifth in total points (13).
» 13 of her 20 total shots have found the back of the net, while only two have been saved.
» Her 13 goals are the most in a two-game stretch in program history.
» Set career highs in goals (33), assists (8), points (42), caused turnovers (21) and draw controls (38) in 2024.
» Two games with six goals and five total hat tricks last season.
» Broke the program record for fastest goal, scoring in five seconds against Marist. Did so again against UC Davis.
PEDAL TO THE METAL
Oregon has started the 2025 season red-hot, outscoring its first two opponents by a combined 35-13 margin en route to its second-consecutive 2-0 start. The Ducks' +22 scoring margin ranks second in the Big Ten behind only Northwestern (+23) through the first week of play and is Oregon's largest since starting the 2014 season by outscoring its first two foes by 37 goals. The Ducks dominated the first 30 minutes of play in the season opener against Butler, outscoring the Bulldogs 14-0, and carried that momentum into Tuesday's win over Stetson, where they scored at least three goals in every quarter.
» Simmons (13) and Avery Young (7) have combined for the most goals out of any Big Ten duo through the first week of the season. Both rank in the top-25 nationally in points (Simmons - 13, T-5th; Young - 9, T-24th).
» The quick-strike offense off the opening draw has proved to be effective for UO. Bri Carrasquillo scored the first goal of the season just 12 seconds after the opening draw against Butler, while Simmons needed just 10 seconds to find the back of the net after the whistle sounded against Stetson.
» The Game 1 win over Butler was UO's largest margin of victory in a season opener since topping Presbyterian 18-1 in 2015.
DOMINATING DEFENSE
The Oregon defense has been stifling to start the season. UO's backline has held opponents to just 24 shots on goal through the first two games and has forced 28 turnovers. In the season opener against Butler, the Duck defense allowed only two total shots in the first 30 minutes of play as Oregon jumped out to a 14-0 lead.
» The 2024 Ducks held opponents under eight goals 10 times after doing so just three times in the three seasons prior. This year's squad has done so in each of the first two games.
» Lexi Jenkins was named to the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch list, one of just four sophomores to be recognized.
» Jadyn Laing is tied for third in the Big Ten with three caused turnovers.
DUCKS ON THE B1G STAGE
A new dawn begins for Oregon Lacrosse this spring as the program enters its first season as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Competition will be steep as five of the Ducks' eight new conference opponents ended the 2024 season in the top-25, but Oregon heads into Year 2 under head coach Jessica Drummond with momentum after setting a new single-season program record for home wins (7) and securing its first winning season since 2017 a year ago. Conference play officially gets underway when the Ducks host Ohio State on March 13.
GAME RECOGNIZED
Three Ducks garnered recognition from the Big Ten Conference before the season started. Anna Simmons, defender Lexi Jenkins and midfielder Avery Young were among the 27 players across the conference named to the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch list.
» Jenkins started all 15 games for the Ducks during her freshman season and was an integral part of Oregon's increased intensity on defense. The 2024 Ducks held opponents under eight goals 10 times after doing so just three times in the three seasons prior.
» Young impressed early in her debut campaign, scoring three goals and adding two assists in three games before being sidelined by injury.
