Laloulu Named Outland Trophy Semifinalist
11/19/25 | Football
OMAHA, Neb. — Oregon center Iapani Laloulu was announced on Wednesday as one of seven semifinalists for the 2025 Outland Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation's best college interior lineman on offense or defense.
Laloulu is one of four Big Ten players to be named a semifinalist. He joins Jackson Powers-Johnson (2023), Penei Sewell (2019), Jake Fisher (2014) and Haloti Ngata (2005) as Ducks to be named a semifinalist or better for the honor. Sewell became the first Oregon player to win the Outland Trophy in 2019.
The lone returning starter on offense from last season for the Ducks, Laloulu has been at the center of one of the most dynamic offenses in the country in 2025. Oregon ranks seventh nationally in scoring offense (39.0 PPG), 11th in total offense (475.4 YPG) and eighth in rushing offense (233.6 YPG). Oregon is also second in the nation in both yards per rush (6.33) and rushes of 20-plus yards (28).
Led by Laloulu, Oregon's offensive line is a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award for the fourth consecutive year, becoming the only school in the nation to accomplish that feat. The Ducks are tied for seventh nationally in fewest tackles for loss allowed (35) and tied for 20th in sacks allowed (12).
Laloulu has started all 10 games at center for the Ducks, ranking third among all qualified FBS centers with an 87.4 pass-blocking grade by Pro Football Focus. He leads the team with 39 total knockdowns this season, including eight in UO's double-overtime win at then-No. 3 Penn State in Week 5.
In 38 career games as a Duck, Laloulu has surrendered just one sack and only 17 total pressures in 1,012 pass-blocking opportunities.
The seven semifinalists will be pared down to three finalists on Tuesday, Nov. 25. The recipient of the 2025 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN on Dec. 12.
