EUGENE, Ore. — A day after being announced as a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was named a semfinalist for both the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
Moore is one of 20 semifinalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the fourth-oldest college football award in the nation. He is one of five Big Ten players to be named a semifinalist, and gives the Ducks a semifinalist or better in each of the last four years.
A Detroit, Mich., native, Moore is also one of 20 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, presented to the nation's most outstanding quarterback. Oregon has had a semifinalist or better for the award every year since 2018, excluding the shortened 2020 season.
Marcus Mariota is the lone Duck to win both the Walter Camp Award and the Davey O'Brien Award, taking home both honors during his Heisman Trophy season in 2014.
Moore has been terrific for the Ducks in his first year as Oregon's starter, completing 158-of-224 passes for 1,933 yards and 19 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He ranks No. 9 nationally in completion percentage (70.5) and No. 7 in passer rating (164.72), and has thrown at least three touchdowns in five of nine games with a pair of four-TD performances.
Moore and the No. 8 Ducks (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) will host Minnesota (6-3, 4-2 Big Ten) this Friday, Nov. 14, at 6:00 p.m. PT in Autzen Stadium (FOX).
