
Ducks Strong Through Two Days of Duck Invite

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team continued their fall season during the second day of the Duck Invitational, collecting nine wins on the day. Three of four Oregon doubles pairs were victorious, while six singles players collected wins.  
 
The Ducks began the day going 3-1 across four doubles matches, including two wins against Utah. Freshmen Hadley Appling, Virginia Crocker and sophomore Avery Jennings each improved their records to 3-0 with different partners throughout the tournament.
Crocker and Jennings began the day with a 6-4 victory over Lexie Flores and Kylie Canubida of Portland. Bridget Mihulka and Appling picked up a win over Hailey Kerker and Kaila Barksdale, while Hinata Furutani and Olivia Symons defeated Kamea Medora and Andjelija Markovic of Utah.
Eight Ducks competed in singles action, collecting six wins. Symons defeated Zehra Suko of Washington in a decisive 6-2, 6-0 match, while Tilde Jagare earned a victory over Zali Morris of Washington Sate in straight sets.
 
Crocker grabbed a win over Washington's Waverly Potter in a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) match. Santitto fought through a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) tiebreak score to defeat Lexie Flores of Portland. Appling went 6-4, 7-5
 
Furutani went down 0-6 in her first set, but fought back 6-2 in the second. The freshman came out victorious in her second collegiate tennis match with a 10-6 tiebreak.
The three-day event continues Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Student Tennis Center. Admission is free and open to all fans.
