
Second Half of B1G Play Starts at Huskies

Friday’s Oregon-Washington match starts at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon volleyball team begins the second half of Big Ten play with a road trip that begins Friday against Washington, the Ducks' first rematch of the conference season. First serve is set for 8 p.m. in Seattle live on the Big Ten Network. Oregon enters the weekend at 13-7 overall with a 4-6 tally in league play.
 
The Ducks face top-ranked Nebraska in Sunday's weekend finale (11 a.m. PT, BTN) in Lincoln.
 
Series Info vs Washington
The two teams have split the past 10 meetings including the Huskies' straight-set win in Eugene earlier this month. Two of the past three matches played in Seattle have gone five sets, both victories for the home team; Oregon won the other in a sweep in 2023.
 
Series Info vs Nebraska
Sunday will be the 11th overall meeting between Oregon and Nebraska. The teams have met three previous times in Lincoln; this will be the first since 2018. Two of the Ducks' three wins in the all-time series have come in the NCAA Tournament: 2012 regional final in Omaha and 2022 regional semifinal in Louisville.
 
Last Time Out
The Ducks dropped a four-set decision to No. 12 Wisconsin in front of a season-high 4,025 fans (Oct. 26) at Matthew Knight Arena. Alanah Clemente and Sophia Meyers each put down 17 kills while Iva Sucurovic and Valentina Vaulet both had 11 kills against the Badgers. Oregon won the first and had three set points to force a decisive fifth but the visitors ended the match on a 6-1 run.
 
It's a Milestone
With her 13th kill against Wisconsin, graduate transfer Sophia Meyers tallied the 1,400th kill of her career. She finished the match with a season-high 17 kills to go along with a .342 hitting percentage. Meyers, a Seattle native, enters the weekend with eight outings of 10 or more kills, hitting .275 or better in six of those matches.
 
Service Pressure
Oregon ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 130 service aces with Alanah Clemente (32 aces) and Valentina Vaulet (31) tied for third and fifth, respectively, in the individual standings. Oregon has seven or more aces in 11 matches including eight or more in six of 10 conference matches. Sophia Meyers and Cora Taylor both have 13 aces this season followed by Reese Sheppard with nine and Iva Sucurovic with eight.
 
RPI Watch
Oregon (13-7, 4-6 B1G) ranks 51th in the Oct. 27 release of the NCAA RPI. The Ducks' next eight matches are against opponents inside the top 40 of this week's standings: Washington (No. 38, RPI) and Nebraska (2).
 
Taylor Tested
Senior Cora Taylor enters the weekend ranked ninth among active NCAA Division I setters with 3,673 career assists. Taylor averaged 12.29 assists per set last week against No. 25 UCLA and No. 12 Wisconsin. The Independence, Ky., native recorded a season-high 48 assists against the Badgers. Taylor is averaging 9.78 assists per set in Big Ten play this season.
 
Blocking Moves
Sophomore Iva Sucurovic enters the weekend seventh in the Big Ten with 91.0 blocks this season. She has recorded five or more blocks in nine matches this year with a season best of 12 total blocks in a straight-set win at Montana State (Aug. 31).
