Season Opener for UO Men at UVU Invite

Friday's opener is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. (PT) in Orem, Utah.
EUGENE, Ore. – The 2024 cross country season begins Friday when the Men of Oregon compete in the Utah Valley Invitational. The three-mile run starts at 9:45 a.m. (PT) at Scera Park in Orem, Utah.
Oregon's six-man lineup will feature Matthew Erickson, Ben Greene, James Harding, Vincent Mestler, Tomas Palfrey and Jeffery Rogers. Along with the Ducks, the men's field includes Idaho State, Salt Lake CC, Snow College, Southern Idaho, Southern Utah, Utah Tech and host Utah Valley.
The UO men checked in at No. 21 in Tuesday's release of the USTFCCCA preseason coaches' poll, one of four teams inside the top 30 alongside No. 13 Wisconsin, No. 25 Washington and No. 27 Michigan. The Big Ten Cross Country Championships will be contested Nov. 1 in Savoy, Ill.
Greene, a transfer from Colorado, and Rogers are set to make their competition debuts for the Ducks. Last season, Erickson and Harding both qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary in the 800 meters and Tomas Palfrey advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 1500.
The UO women will open their season next week—Sept. 6—with the Pre's Trail Run in Eugene.
